According to SI's Chris Mannix via Twitter, Celtics' VP Danny Ainge was on the team's flagship WEEI-FM a short time ago in Boston. Ainge said Celtics' star Rajon Rondo has been suspended 2 games by the NBA for that altercation vs. the Nets' Kris Humphries last night.

  @ Gregg Popovich. Spurs/Miami are on national TV tonight, and Pops is resting Parker, Ginobli, and Duncan again. Funny Deadspin comment: The Miami Heat were thinking of resting their three most important guys also, but somebody needs to officiate the game.

I'm sure NBA Commissioner David Stern's thrilled about that. Stern doesn't like it when teams don't play their stars, even though they're healthy.

That's true. But teams don't like it when David Stern vetoes trades, even though they aren't unfair.

Yeah, the Chris Paul non-trade to the Lakers comes to mind. Stern rejected that deal to the Lakers, but said yes when the rival Clippers ended up getting the point guard.

Seems ridiculous. Why can't you rest your guys?

I agree. This is a ridiculous overreaction on his part.

He's probably going to sanction that the national TV games get a certain amount of stars.

He should have them check in, immediately call a timeout, and then sit them back down

Expect a Stern DB nomination sometime in the next day or two. That actually makes me pretty angry. He already lost all credibility by letting his league own a team, vetoed a trade his GM made after specifically saying the GM could run the team without interference, gave that league owned team the first overall pick, and now he thinks he can tell other teams how to operate. Fuck David Stern, he needs to resign now. Piece of shit.

I love Barkley, but he's a horrible commentator. Keep him at the desk with Kenny, Shaq, and Ernie. I wonder why he's doing this game.

Ok, I am a baseball guy, but why is this any different than a getaway Sunday when a manager rest 4 or even 5 of his starters? And yes I realize they only play 82 games and there are only 5 players on the court.

This is the equivalent of LoHo calling out Bernsie. Shoutout worthy. Well done Mr. Silver, perhaps you're ready for the big seat after all.

Yeah .... Barkley in soundbites is good, Barkley stringing marble-mouthed sentences together is awfully bad.

It's not different at all really, and this is the third season in a row Pops is doing it. Stern is just a pompous dickhead.

Stern is an ass. Popp has every right to sit his players, especially considering it was what their 4th game in like 6 days? The league has no business getting involved in such stuff.

Like that quote said, Popovich is the last guy I'd question about something like this.

100% agree. If the team wants to fire/discipline their coach for doing this, I have no problem with it, but the league should not be involved in the day to day personnel decisions a coach makes. It is totally absurd, and I think the Spurs should fine Stern for his comments.

To be fair, Silver said that in April, but it is on record obviously.

I didn't know that. But yeah, that would still definitely help an appeal of a fine.

Nets announce Brook Lopez has a mid-foot sprain, injury not to same area of foot he broke last year. Will be re-evaluated next week.

*SIGH*

They're one coach and one reliable big man away from being the second best team in the East. I really want this team to be good. I like the Nets.

It's my understanding that the man who will succeed David Stern as NBA Commissioner in 2014, Adam Silver, had no issue with what Spurs' HC Gregg Popovich did in Miami last night.
