Who's number 16?

I'd guess they would love to get into Texas if at all possible.

Kinda bleh on GT being added. They do add a big market in Atlanta but it's another market that is largely not a college sports market. GT does fit the criteria of being a strong academic institution.

You have to think they really really want UNC in all this but I dont see it happening. I could see pulling one of the UVA schools over.

Yeah why not? Throw in a school from California and Washington too. This all makes a ton of sense.

Mizzou or Iowa St.

More reasons to get Goff on I guess.

Mizzou is in the SEC. So I'd really doubt that. Iowa St. doesn't expose them to any new TV markets that both Iowa and Nebraska don't.

Makes a little more sense than Maryland, I suppose, but if the article is right and they follow it up with Virginia or BC...then it's kinda laughable.

So the ACC will get ND and Louisville, plus a $105M in exchange for Maryland and GT?

Plus, adding a 15th member has essentially screwed the Big Ten out of ever getting Texas, hasn't it? You can't get Texas without Oklahoma coming with them.

No way it's Iowa State. They add nothing - you already have the token team from Iowa.
The only Mizzou is coming is if they admit the SEC move was bad.

Kansas might be a target. That I could see.

ATL is a huge college football market - but Georgia Tech is kinda like the White Sox in Chicago. It's all SEC, all the time down there.

What forces the Big Ten for stopping at 16?

I thought all of the super-geniuses have it written in stone that the long-term object of all of this is to have 4 sixteen-team super conferences?

That'd be a jackpot. But not sure if possible with Longhorn Network and Texas dictating the Big 12.

Unless team #16 is Notre Dame or Texas, this is a huge mistake.

UNC would be quasi-worth it.

I know it sounds strange when this is essentially a football discussion, but do you really see UNC cutting ties with Duke and NC State in order to follow GT and maryland?

I can't.

Isn't Texas making like $100 million from its own exclusive TV deal?

They have no incentive whatsoever unless they are getting frozen out of a conference and I don't think that is happening.

My bad, forgot that Mizzou is now in the SEC.

I guess with the thought of trying to get new markets, I don't see why they wouldn't try to snag a Texas school. Maybe SMU?

Mizzou bailed on the Big 12 to get their ass pounded on a weekly basis. Nothing will surprise me anymore.

No. I don't see that happening either.

Same.

I really still see them trying to get West or Texas markets. They have an influence in Midwest, Northeast and Southeast markets now...in terms of TV's accessed.

If the SEC decides to destroy the ACC then yes.

The SEC and Big Ten are working together here to get rid of the competition. I'm still skeptical that this GT stuff is true. It doesn't make sense, but it can scare the other ACC schools into doing things.

I kinda agree with this. We all heard for a long time that Mizzou to the Big Ten was a done deal.....and then........they didn't.

There was talk of Florida State and Virginia Tech to the SEC at one point.

They should try to add Alabama and USC.

SEC, Big 10, Pac-12, ACC?

SEC has 14 teams, B1G - 15 with GT, PAC - 12, and ACC - 15ish (ND).

There's 10 teams in Big-12, UConn and Cincinnati that can be picked. B1G doesn't have to stop at 16.
