Is that the only prediction you guaranteed all season that actually panned out?

If I had to hit only one, that's the one to hit.

I have no idea but I've been drinking so I'm willing to play along.

Are you amazed that the Notre Dame defense had 12 consecutive good/lucky matchups? I mean, you guaranteed they weren't that good.

Did Duke beat Miami? You guaranteed that too.

Keep in mind, this BCS excitement is here to stay because there will never, ever - EVER be a playoff of any kind in college football. Ever.

Never.

So what was the purpose of your shoutout?

Iowa beat NIU.

By 1 point. Even though NIU essentially dominated the game. That was yet another example of the HUGE gap between NIU and the Big Ten.

That was before NIU realized what the hell Jordan Lynch was.

You seem to confuse predictions for guarantees.

I thought we settled this a while ago by digging up the thread on which you were John Kirking me, where I said the teams would never allow a full-access playoff run by the NCAA. That is right and continues to be right and will always always be right. I guarantee it.

I never made any sort of prediction one way or another on this (I don't think). I just appreciate the O. Henry levels of succulent irony that college football so consistently delivers.

No. You don't say "I think Duke will beat Miami" you say things like "Talk to me at the end of the year when Duke kicks Miami's ass to be come bowl eligible".

There is a difference. One is a prediction, one is overly confident and cocky - in a "I know more about college football than anyone else here" sort of way.

How about that Notre Dame defense? Still no good?

No. You clearly guaranteed there would never, ever be a playoff of any kind.

But you were wrong. Again. Write a book about it. :D

Totally agree. Like how certain posters spend years insisting how superior a certain conference and all of their teams are, but then resort to threads like this when..............

If I were forced to write a book about all the smartass things I say that I'm wrong about, it would be longer than the phone book and in smaller font.

Alrighty, we got the obligatory smartass shots out of the way, let's talk football.

Give me your real "postseason" thoughts on ND. That defense is legit. Yeah. Teo is the victim of overexposure, but that dude is a beast. That DT ain't too shabby either.

I still think the secondary is a bit soft but the front seven is so good that it covers up a lot of holes. The Oklahoma game made me a believer in the defense as a whole being able to withstand just about any passing attack. The line and linebacker corps is as good as any team in the country.

They probably deserve to be underdogs against either team in the SEC championship, but I think the championship game will be close either way, and I certainly wouldn't be shocked to see them win a low scoring contest. They are a solid team.

I agree with most of this.

That's the goal of a lot of defenses though - make your front 7 so frustrating and physical that the secondary is an afterthought that just has to be "good enough". That's what all of the good defenses in the SEC do too.

They will be a (deserved) underdog vs. Alabama, but Alabama 2012 is not Alabama 2011. They struggled with teams they should not have before Texas A&M. There's just something "off" about them. They may be the best team in the country again, but they are not the machine they were last year.

I'm a Mark Richt fan, but I really, really want to see him win a big game outside of Athens or Jacksonville before I'm ready to believe. I'd be thrilled with a ND/UGA BCS Championship.

I'm looking at the Iowa website and I don't see stats - I just see

09/01/12 vs Northern Illinois W 18-17

And dominated? Iowa ended up with more yards in the game, greater time of possession, first downs. The only area NIU dominated was sacks.
