Oh, and by the way, that 4th down the Bears failed to pick up? How many fucking times have I said it? Run the fucking sneak on 4th and inches. They just fucking refuse to do it. The only conclusion I can reach is that the Bears coaching staff doesn't like converting on 4th and inches. It's the only explanation for a team that isn't very good at run-blocking trying to run it on 4th and inches time and time again.

Well shit , Jim miller just said you can't expect anymore out of your qb than what Cutler did today. I hereby rescind my criticisms of jay for this game.

It's inexplicable. I was thinking "I'd go for it, but I'd run the sneak. If they're not going to sneak it, they might as well take the 3." And what do they do? They fucking run it, which they'd been losing yards in the running game regularly to that point. Why? Why would anyone with a functioning brain do that? The Seahawks were in the Bears' backfield on nearly every running play. Why give them the opportunity to tackle you for a loss? If you don't feel the line can get 4 inches of push on a sneak, just take the three. It's just common sense.

You should, Miller rarely has good things to say about him. If Mark Schlereth says anything you should give yourself a swirly.

Not really. Seattle should've won the game in regulation. If you want to call a 97 yard drive at the end of the game some kind of flukey Madden shit go right ahead but that was a great drive. Seattle deserved it , made plays when they had to, Bears didn't.

Seattle should have covered the guy who gashed them for 100+ yards and then they might have won in regulation. Or the Bears could have decided to kick two field goals and won in regulation. See how that works?

What matters is they put the game in that kids legs on the last two drives. It looked a lot like a Madden game against some teenager who gasses your defense with Vick and the 1-to-2 second drop and run where they were never actually going to throw the ball. You could tell by the cadence. Those were designed QB runs. But yeah he had some key completions because the Bears even on the 97 yard drive were totally mind fucked with the QB runs.

Not taking anything away from Seattle, it just hurts to lose like that.

Corporal Wright dropped an INT with about 2:25 left in the game. That is another reason they lost.

All they needed was to keep Seattle out of the end zone with 35 seconds to go. A real defensive coach would have his wolves sharpen their teeth and go for the throat. This team let the offended drag them to the zone. Lovie blows donkey Dick.

This gets interesting now. At 8-4, two huge divisional games await, first in Minnesota and then vs. Green Bay. Chicago may not be favored in either game, and, even if they are, won't be by much. They could be staring at 8-6 with 2 road games left if they aren't able to take care of their divisional games.

I would give slight advantages to the Vikings and the Packers, but both are winnable games for the Bears. They have to avoid disaster and win one of those games, most likely the road game, which scares me knowing that the offensive line is about to get a pretty big test in a dome setting.

I do not have a problem with him going for it in that situation at all. The problem I have is the stupid play call by Tice. It was inches. Cutler should be able to get that every single time on a sneak. So I don't think that is on Lovie as much as Tice. The defense is what worries me. They looked bad in the 4th quarter. They could not stop a simple zone read play with Wilson.

This one hurt. Bad. Real bad... the giant head of herm edwards needs to knock off the giant head of rich kotite and tell the bears YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME

This team is so afraid of losing that they let their unconfidence seep into everything they do then next thing you know pete carroll outcoaches lovie......again!

Seriously kids, give pete carroll this: when he finds something that works against yhe bears, he goes to the well ad infinitum until he wins. See that mike williams 10+rec ~150yds game in 2019...or whatever he did last year
..38-14 IIRC. Lovie/tice always abandon whatever works in favor of run run pass

Can the Bears quit returning kick offs from deep in their endzone. Their three kick returns never got past the 20 yard line and the average was like the 13 yard line.

What pissed me off was the kick return after 17-14, wasted 5 seconds off the clock to run the ball the the 14 yard line.

The Bears need to stop living off their past success, because that special team group is not what it was the last few years.

So true. I was just thinking about this. You know, there's been a lot of talk that the Bears need to get the run game going to suppress the pass rush. But today, it was evident very early that the Bears weren't going to have success in the run game while, at the same time, the line was miraculously holding up quite well on passing downs. A smart OC would have seen that and just thrown the fuck out of the ball. Instead, we stuck with trying to run the ball, constantly setting ourselves up for 2nd & 3rd-and-longs. And again, there's the conservatism. They get in 3rd and long, and they don't even try to pick up the first down. That's bad enough, but when you're in a drive where punting will give the opposing team a chance to drive the ball down and fucking win you might want to try to pick that first down up. But the Bears don't play to win, they play to not lose. They do it all the time. They get a lead, and they just try not to lose it, and the result is they end up letting the opposing team back into the game.

It's so irritating. They should have won this game easily. Easily! Cutler and Marshall were on fucking fire, and they only scored 17 points. By the way, who switched Hester and Bennett's brains?

This hurt because it would have pretty much guaranteed the Bears a playoff spot. I know most people are rightfully blaming the defense for running out of gas at the end but I don't completely see it the same way. Up until the last 30 seconds of the game the defense had only given up 10 points and helped set up the first touchdown. That should be enough to win. Seattle didn't really play great defense yesterday. The Bears should have scored a lot more points. IIRC they had under 200 yards passing (AGAIN) until Cutler's great pass to Marshall and the running game (not including Cutler) was brutal. At some point the offense has to help the defense. They have to give them a game off. The injuries are piling up again because they're on the field for so long.

Agreed, and many of those yards came after being stopped on 3rd down at their own 9 -- the drive was kept alive by a ticky tack penalty on Seattle. Bottom line, they need to score way more points, especially during those rare games when the pass blocking is good.

I don't blame them for trying to establish the running game, that's what all the "experts" were saying they had to do before the game. I guess you would expect them to change the plan by the second half though. Bottom line is the players didn't get the job done. They are just not that good IMO.

Forte was playing on 1 leg and they kept giving him the ball instead of Bush. That really didn't make any sense. They have to spread the ball around more on offense too. They looked great when the game started but faded in the 2nd quarter.

They've also kind of marginalized Forte this year by instituting a Marshall is option #1, #2, and #3 offense. He's not the kind of back you can just hand it off to and expect him to run for 100 yards. He needs to be involved in the passing game too, and his targets are way down. That also does open up the running lanes for him, as teams don't have to worry about him as much getting thrown the ball.

That's one of the explanations how Brandon Marshall can look like he's the best WR in the league, but the offense is terrible. There has to be some reason why adding in Marshall has actually made the offense worse.

Cutler targets Marshall like he used to do with Olsen. Obviously Marshall is good enough for that to work but when most of the team doesn't expect to get the ball it could effect the way they run routes or even concentrate on the play. That has to change. The ball needs to be spread around more and Forte needs to lose some of his reps until he is healthy enough to play effectively on his ankle.

I never realized Olsen was targeted 19 times a game.
