Nationals acquired OF Denard Span from the Twins for RHP Alex Meyer.

This is a really good deal for the Twins. Meyer is a 6'9" RHP with a plus fastball, plus slider and developing change. He's the type of power pitcher this organization has lacked for many years. Span will be easily replaced by Ben Revere.

The Red Sox have signed Mike Napoli to a 3yr/$39M deal.

Wow that's a lot of money for a 31 year old C/1B. It's a good thing they dumped all that salary (and Adrian Gonzalez) on the Dodgers so now they can turn around and hand out more bad money.

The Red Sox now plan to deal C Jarrod Saltamacchia, while 1B James Loney, we hardly knew ye in Boston. Yahoo! Sports reports that Loney has signed with the Rays.

It would appear that the Mariners are the only team willing to give Hamilton a long term deal. Will be interesting what Hamilton decides.

Don't get the Dickey talk. He is 37, and his main pitch is a gimmick. I really wouldn't part with anything good in a trade, and I wouldn't give him a huge deal if I was the Mets.

I would have thought Span and Revere would be Twin lifer types. They will always be reasonably priced with particular skills on offense and good defenders.
