NIU didn't "earn" the bid -- they picked it up by default.
This isn't Boise State or an unbeaten team shafted from the National Championship game due to their mid-major status. This is a one-loss team with NO signifciant wins outside of the conference and their loss was to a mediocre (at best) Iowa team. I checked out Awful Announcing and their defense deals with what other schools in the MAC did. It's just a shame that quality two-loss teams like Georgia, South Carolina and LSU are aced out due to the BCS rules.
Here's hoping for a rout like Cincy, Hawaii and other wannabees received in their BCS games.

South Carolina is about as overrated as you can get and LSU is like watching paint dry. It seemed like every significant game they had was at home.
