The long-awaited announcement for Arkansas fans should come Tuesday.

But don’t be surprised if there’s another smokescreen or two along the way.

As of Saturday evening, multiple sources have said that Boise State coach Chris Petersen is expected to be named the new Razorbacks coach Tuesday. Considering the Hogs will play Oklahoma in basketball that evening at Bud Walton Arena, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he could be formally introduced to the fans then.

That’s assuming, of course, nothing changes. After the Dana Altman experience of 2007, Arkansas fans have seen just about the strangest of the strange things happen when it comes to new coaching hires. That was when the Creighton coach was hired to replace the fired Stan Heath, took the job and backed out the next day.

This one doesn’t figure to go that way.

Petersen, the 48-year-old coach of the Broncos, has compiled a gawdy 83-8 record in seven seasons at Boise (a 91.2 percent winning percentage). He took over the reins from Dan Hawkins, who accepted the Colorado job and left a team that Petersen guided to a Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma in 2006.

I would be happy with this hire, a lot of teams have tried to pry him away. Won't believe it til I see it.

Now would be the right time for Peterson to cash in his chips on Boise.

At least fourteen coaches will get years and money added to their existing contract before this is done.

I have a feeling this coaching search at Arkansas has turned into what happened with Illinois settling on Tim Beckman a year ago. In plain English, not good.

Hmmm...According to Will Gregory's Twitter, the Kansas City-based PR guy tweeted a few minutes ago that Bret Bielema is the Arkansas HC, via his Wikipedia page.

That can't be right. Bielema's the Wisconsin HC right now...

I would truly find that hard to believe, then we would be coached by the most hated man in college football.

On Twitter, the search for Arkansas' next head football coach has become an absolute comedy.

I don't know. Most college football people who speed up if they saw Nick Saban crossing the street.

He at least made it through a full year of coaching the Dolphins before he put his tail between his legs and ran.

Now Wisconsin will only score 70, instead of 80 on Indiana:

Per @YahooForde, Wisconsin's Bret Bielema will be named the new head coach of Arkansas. #Badgers

According to Yahoo! Sports' Pat Forde, it is legit. Bret Bielema is indeed leaving Wisconsin for Arkansas.

Didn't expect Wisconsin to be a stepping stone program.

I will say that this is a major shock, did not expect it at all. Really don't know how I feel about this.
