Chryst? Diaco? Doeren? Jones? Barry? Tressel? Discuss.

Isn't he banned for 5 years or something? Doubt that's an option. Or he is the #1 option. I'd like to speak as ambiguously as I can so I can't be proven wrong and can argue this precise post for the next several days.

I think you are right. Consistency seems important in their program and he would be a natural fit. And Barry always loved him.

Well, even though he got a standing ovation about 2 weeks ago when Ohio State honored their 2002 title team, Jim Tressel's a HUGE reason why this Ohio State team couldn't celebrate going unbeaten in a rotten year for the Big Ten Conference.

One thing to remember is the story about Barry promising the HC job to Chryst, then ultimately giving it to BB. Depends if that story is real or not. I had always heard it was a little blown out of proportion, but there may still be ill will. Tough to know for sure.

But what about the facilities?

Kidding, but you're probably right.

I think it's been pretty much a done deal with Jones for weeks, but Chryst is the #1 guy for the Badgers.

There's still a chance that Dave Doeren might be in the mix for the Wisconsin vacancy after all. ESPN/ABC News' Darren Rovell just Tweeted moments ago that Doeren might not have signed his new contract with North Carolina State after all. Hmmm...

If Wisconsin doesn't hire Doeren, did he turn them down even though he already had another job?

If Bucky Chris had reported the Doeren deal as done, and then he accepted a different job, you would be giving Chris massive amounts of shit for it.

Of course I would. What does that have to do with anything?

Don't spanky up the thread by intentionally ignoring things to make me look stupid. I look dumb enough about the Jones stuff, don't make up stuff please about Doeren.

I'm not making stuff up. You said Butch Jones was the #1 guy in the exact same post as you said you believed a deal with Doeren had been done for weeks.

I don't really want to steal Bucky Chris' limelight, so go bump that post and I'll explain it to you again. Hopefully for the last time.

No I understood your explanation. It contradicted your original post. If a deal was done with Doeren then there would have been no waiting involved. They probably knew they weren't getting Doeren so they went with Jones. They missed out on both. Now they'll get Beckman 2.0 like RFDC said.

Jones was the #1 choice, as I said in the original post, which I have now bumped.

Tresel got hit with a 5 year show cause penalty. Which basically means Wisconsin would have to go to the NCAA to argue it's case about why they shouldn't face repercussions if he's hired

The committee gave Tressel a five year show-cause, but the penalty only has teeth for the first five weeks of Tressel's first season, when he must miss games. He also must miss that season's bowl game.

Seems every Big Ten school over values its HC position.

Definitely a fwiw, but Chryst says he is committed to Pitt.

BB will not be coaching in the RB, and there is a good chance Barry will, which is pretty cool.

I bet there are $1.8 million reasons why Dave Doeren won't leave North Carolina State. That's how much he'll be earning in Raleigh, a far cry from what he was earning at NIU.

I will say I'm suprised Bielema left, seemed almost like a lifer there. It would be neat if Barry coached the Rose Bowl.

I don't think Doeren should take the job, to me could be in poor taste, say your going somewhere then back out, maybe he heard rumblings this could happen and hasn't signed the contract yet.

I don't have a guess yet, sure will hear a bunch of names, but would say the last 2 hires for Football have been good.

Tucker and Ash getting a lot of mentions. Apparently Doeren's buyout is 3.5mm, so I don't think he is an option anymore.
