$7.00 on Stub Hub.
The demise of the B.C.S. can't come fast enough.
Northern is a nice story, but they are on the hook for 17,500 Orange Bowl seats.
The place is going to be a morgue...even with the Criminoles in the game.
The B.C.S. Championship game did what was expected....destroy other Bowl games.
All of the idiotic Conference tie ins to all of the irrelevant Bowls are ridiculous.
Northern deserves a Jan. 1 Game.
It should have been in Jacksonville, Orlando or Tampa.

This game wouldn't even sell out if it was played in Dekalb.

The other BCS bowls are selling well though.

It sucks for the smaller schools, but this is exactly why the BCS fought long and hard to limit access with the non-BCS schools.

It's NIU giving tickets to students for free?

It's not just that tickets are $7, it's that face is anywhere from $75-$225. And NIU has to pay for every ticket at face. I'm an alum and I wanna support NIU, but I'd go the stubhub route.

They are. The only caveat is you have to pick up your ticket in Miami.

The MAC conference said it would pick up the tab for NIU.

Really? I missed that. That's pretty awesome.

I guess they are still considering it, anyways.

I hear the AD on with Laurence last night and he indicated that the MAC will pick up any losses for NIU. BCS requirements for bowl teams are so much greater. For example, most bowls want you there 2-3 days prior. A BCS bowl wants you there for 7 nights. Your band must go to the game and stay three days. These are big costs for a school not used to having to take care of them.

Aren't these BCS bowl games considered "non profit"?

The other point is that non-AQ BCS teams only get an $8 million dollar payout compared to the $20 million that bigger conference schools get. NIU won't have the same expenses as those schools but that's still a huge difference in revenue.

I've got tickets every year to both the Sugar and Orange Bowls. With those comes the "option" to buy the Championship Game when it is held in New Orleans or Miami. I have made a small fortune some years. I really should not bitch as I will throw in the Orange Bowl for nothing to my guy who bought the N.D.-Bama game. Been to both many times and the party is great.
When the B.C.S. is dumped, the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl will be hosting National Semifinals and some years the National Championship.
Looks like a better investment than Cubs season tickets, Biggie.
