Ten BCS spots -- only six make BCS games.
That doesn't make any sense.
The Big East Conference isn't strong any more, but I believe all conference champs must have at least a Top 12 ranking. That gives a little wiggle room, rather than just making it the Top 10. Neither Louisville nor Northern Illinois deserve a BCS bid. NIU's non-conference schedule was weak -- and it still lost one of the games. The Cardinals lost to sub-.500 UConn.
I love the MAC and think it's highly competitive for a "mid major". I don't have as much a problem if NIU was undefeated -- then it would have kind of a "Boise State" feel. Herbie was a little harsh, but his message is true.
