I guess not everyone hates Bielema.

He's like the 5th biggest asshole in the SEC. He is where he belongs.

That's a stunner. Thought Wisconsin was a destination job.

Ferentz and Fitzgerald officially the longest tenured B1G coaches

Is this the first B1G coach since Gary Barnett to leave after success for a "better" job?

Apparently they are going to pay him more than 4 million per year, don't know the years yet. He was making 2.5 million at Wisconsin.

He could have stayed for quite a while. Better get good fast down there--ARK is not patient..

To be honest I don't know and I have seen a lot of him. I worry about his in game coaching, it is has not been good at times in big games. Then I also worry about his ability to recruit the athletes it will take to win. But looking at the other options out there yeah, could be in Brick's shoes right now going after our 4th choice.

7 straight bowls and 3 B1G titles right? I think his resume speaks for itself.

I was curious what you would think, there is part of me that really like this hiring. But, I have been to close to the situation. He is a young guy, and a lot of times that can help in recruiting. Also, I am curious to see what coaches come with him, the d-coordinator also recruits Florida, so I would like to see him come.

but he was carrying on a winning team while he will have a reclamation job at arkansas

I always found Bieliema teams to be underwhelming. Wisconsin will be better off after this move.

Look at Wisconsin's national recruiting rankings. If you believe the star rankings (which is a stretch, I know), Bielema did more with less.

As did every coach since Alvarez. Wisconsin is a system type place. Keep the system and you will get the same results irrespective of the coach.

So 23-1 against the dregs of B1G. Not that beating teams you should beat isn't important, but not exciting either. You can also hang a pretty big * on this year's Championship/Rose Bowl.

Great hire...officially the 6th or so best coach in the SEC...hope he enjoyed those BCS trips, because I see a lot of Chic-fil-a bowls in his future.

Hawg, what do the hog fans you know think about this hire?

I have several friends down here who are Arkansas fans and they are very skeptical of this hire. They do not like or respect the Big 10, and they think an SEC team should have been able to do better.

Not really. It brings Arkansas above the likes of Ole Miss on a year in-year out basis. They should just be thankful that Mizzurah is in the SEC now, because your Razorbacks aren't the worst Northernmost team in the SEC anymore.

Arkansas should theoretically compete for a crappy late December bowl game that's played at 3 on a Wednesday from now on (until Bielema can't recruit anyone, and ultimately gets fired).

I haven't really seen anything to negative, who were they going to get? They had to try and make a big splash. With the embarassment that went on down there earlier this year, they couldn't afford to hire a up and comer. The fan base would not have allowed it. So, when you start looking at other candidates, I think it was the right hire. I am a little hesitant because I questioned him many times on some of his in game decisions, but the record speaks for itself. I don't worry about the recruiting part, he is a young man and I have never heard one player say anything bad about him.

I am in agreement with you, I think it is about as good as they were going to do. But most of the Arkansas fans I know have an over elevated view of their program. They somehow feel like they are in line with the likes of Bama, Florida, LSU. I think they are crazy.

Not on a consistent basis, I believe. That's not saying you can't have a few good years in a row and get up there like they were doing under Petrino. If you could tell me now that Bielema's record could be the same after 7 years as it was at Wisconsin, I would be very happy.
