I have never really watched this but Ch 270 on my Comcast system has live or immediate tape delay (Redzone like) for races all over the country with some REALLY good commentary.

I actually will not buy a tablet computer as this seems WAY to addicting to me. Laying in bed, order a pizza, load up a Twin Spires account and "They're Off".....This is a perfect example of something were I agree with the government that it is totally addicting and probably bad for you, but if I get addicted and lose all my money, My bad.

Thats said....TVG for all you sickos, gotta be a good thing.

OK, maybe One night I will do this!

I like the convenience of ADW, but it seems like it could turn into a desperate way to gamble. Nothing beats people-watching at a racetrack. Sadly, there are less and less people to watch everyday. My friends and I used to have nicknames for every regular at the racetrack. I'm sure they had nicknames for us too.

I watched for about 15 minutes and wrote down my wagers as if I was really betting on 4 races and would have made $50, just taking the advice of the announcers who do seem to really know there stuff.

A little taste....I know one night, I am coming back! Wish I didnt find this!

Yes, I watch this channel a lot. But I don't have an account set up. That would really mess me up.

The one big negative of simulcasting is that pools are now so shallow. Mike Antoniades told me that one night at Thunder Ridge there was a win pool with only $17 or something like that in it. How can you even bet a track like that? I made the biggest bet of my life at Balmoral during the pre-simulcast days- $5000 win and $3000 place and the horse still went off at 7-2 or 4-1. If you bet $5000 to win on a horse at Balmoral these days, even on a Saturday night, I have to think he's 3-5 or 4-5 at best and if he's a horse that has a shot, probably 1-9.

The biggest bet of my life was when I put $128 on Shanghai Bobby to win the Juvie BC last month. He won. But it was even money.

I put $100 on Wise Dan to win the BC Mile, and I should have done more.

I normally don't like to tout horses, but for my friends at the CSFMB, here goes.

Okay, so back before my partner and I built Vernonshire Racing into a powerhouse stable, we were just two handicappers sharing a garden apartment at 1615 W. Byron. At one time we went to the track 528 consecutive days. Whenever we would see a horse that had a seriously troubled trip, or loomed boldly, or really caught our eyes, we would write his name down and put it on the refrigerator. It can't just be something that raced pretty good and you kind of like. It's always a horse that appears ready to win easily. We always had a list of several "Refrigerator Horses" underneath a magnet. Times and technology change. These days I use an app on my phone that I created which is naturally called "Refrigerator Horses".

Short story long, there are two refrigerator horses racing this Saturday. I will only bet if I am getting 7-5 or better. One is in the seventh race at Balmoral. His name is Smoke Rings. The other is Our Cullenscrown N in the seventh at Yonkers.

Good luck!

Thanks! I don't like harness racing much, but I will look into this.

My brother has a orthopedic surgeon who used to fix the jockeys.

He gave him two tips that he made between 1500 and 2000 grand on each one. So i wander out ot Sportmans or Hawthorne, i don't even remeber which and drop three hundred on some horse going off at 5-1.

Long shots win the first two races and my horse is winning the entire race and loses at the wire. I swear the SOB jockey was pulling back on the reins.

I wanna say his name was Magers, but this was like 20 years ago.

Did you go all Joe Pesci on him (from Easy Money)?

Powerful Poe is a really good horse. He's the undisputed leader of his division and hands down the two year old trotting colt of the year in Illinois. I'm not sure if he's ever lost going against Illinois-bred two year olds. If he has, it was probably because he broke stride.

JORR,

Did you ever know a guy that hung around the tracks named Billy Kerrigan. He was a friend of my dad's. Used to live at Maywood during that season. He was like 6'5 and built like a three story brick shithouse.

That name doesn't ring a bell, but a lot of the old time guys that worked on the backstretch had nicknames like Red Cap, Dirty Dick, Rabbit, Shrimpy, Shaky Lou, etc. It's possible I know him but by some other name.

I have an xpressbet.com account and it can come in handy at times

Now and then when we have people over we will plug the laptop into the HD tv and have group wagering. They pay me and I make the bets through my account, pay the winners, etc. Lots of fun.

Last summer went to see the CSO at Ravinia. Since I can only take so much classical music my wife and I enjoyed the diversion of watching and wagering a few races while sipping wine and sitting under the stars.

Also four of us were in DC recently to run the Marine Corp marathon. We got stuck there a few extra days because of the Hurricane. The subway was shut so there was no where to go. So we hung out at the bar and passed the time betting on and watching races on the smartphone. In fact the bar we were at (it was in virginia) had kiosks for people to use to create accounts and wager on horse races.

You keep hearing about how horse racing is dying, but they certainly make it easy to bet.

Twin Spires is my personal favorite......you can set a limit on how much you are able to bet

Were the two women still at the anchor desk? The chunky blonde British lesbian and the Marion Brooks-looking brunette? They were on earlier today.
