Lovie is slotted in that one space between the top 3rd of coaches and the bottom 2/3.

So his record will always be good. His teams will always beat the bad teams, thats how he sets up his defense, just dont get beat deep. When he drops into Cover 2, if a QB makes an overthrows, hid safeties have a good shot at getting the ball after the QB is rushed by DL pressure. All that works much better against bad teams.

So the defense of Lovie with an overall positive record as evidence of him being a good coach, does nothing for me when I want to see them win big games!

This thing is going to be very interesting. Lovie's going to want a long-term deal. He has no incentive to extend for another year or two. However, it seems unlikely they Bears would be willing go for a long term deal. How will this play out??

I think Hub has this correct in saying Emery should hold strong and attack the notion that a coach somehow loses the locker room if he only has one year remaining. He only loses the locker room if things are already going badly.
