I have placed the blame for this organization right where it belongs. Virginia! Yes, the 112 year old owner who loves Lovie and thinks all is well with the Bears.

As long as the checks come in and she doesnt hear a boo during the games, there is never any need to do anything.

Never a need to try and get better, do whatever is necessary, truely dedicate to a passing offense and hire someone that might not go to church as a requirement?????

This McOwnership still thinks beating the packers is a priority each season ...

Mediocre is this organizations goal each year, basically just dont fuck it up...and if they do better than that...great...but it is not the goal!

Bigfan bringing the meatball. I like it! Of course ownership has ultimate responsibility for decades of mediocrity.

I've said this before: to the extent that the Packers are a divisional rival who tend to be competitive, defeating them in your two games is an integral part of a good season.

Stupid owners. We're just going to lose to them twice anyway, why waste resources trying to win.

It seems to me that the Bears have spent money on big name players for many years now. Marshall and Peppers come to mind. The Bears have been very competitive under Lovie. Don't we all hate it when the owner gets too involved in the day to day happenings of a franchise (Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder, etc)? I am ok with the way the Bears are run.

Didn't the Pack go 14-2 some years back, with both losses against the Bears?

Not to my knowledge, though the 2001 Bears went 13-3 with two losses to the Packers (and a third to the defending champion Ravens).

False binary. Replacing Lovie after six disappointing seasons does not mean that some McCaskey is going to start coaching special teams or something. This has nothing to do with meddling; you could live on another planet and arrive at the conclusion that perhaps your team needs a new coaching staff.

In defense of Lovie,he has not exactly had a world class roster in his time here. How long has the offense sputtered. Constant failure from high draft picks (including this year). All in all,he has kept the Bears competitive BUT if they shoot themselves in the ass again this year,a new coach will seem like a breath of fresh air. I'm afraid though it will be another humble, quiet type of guy like Neil Armstrong,Jack Pardee,DICK JAURON (Eddy O's voice) and Lovie Smith.

Agree, but Lovie has had quite an impact on this roster. He has had way more than his share of guys he likes and I am not sure which have worked out. I do know guys he wanted, that didnt work out. Pace, Archuletta and Brandon ManuManu Manu come to mind in a hurry. These were not cheap quick signings either.
