My wife, my son and I are in the elevator after his pediatric oncology appointment and a woman gets on the next floor down. This is the conversation that occurred:
Woman: Oh he's cute, where you at the allergy clinic?
My wife: no
(pause)
Woman: Ear, Nose and Throat?
My wife: no
(pause)
Woman: oh was he..
Me: We were at Pediatric Oncology
The door to the elevator opens and we leave.


Who the fuck asks why you are at the children's hospital with a kid? When, if ever, is this a good idea? I'm sure she meant well, but think before you speak.

How many times have you sat there in a hospital waiting room, and looked around thinking "I wonder what he/she has?" I'm sure everyone has done it. You don't actually do it, because it's rude and none of your business. Same thing with inquiries in a HOSPITAL elevator. Small talk is fine, but small questioning is stupid.
