The guy was an excellent nickle back for this team for several years. He said one unkind thing about Cutler and suddenly we are back to the Zack Bowman experience. I don't think that Hayden has been remarkably better than Moore that he deserved to take the nickle job from him in the first place.

Another reason to fire Lovie. If you get in his doghouse, it is impossible to get out.

He could fill in for a week due to in game injuries and have 4 picks and you would still not see him again the following week.

The guy is a playmaker which the team desperately needed in this second half of the season.

Totally agree with you, he seemed to always find a way to be around the ball. I think it may have been his haircut that lead to his diminished playing time.

Lovie likes to show his authority with marginal players. Cutler shoved a player and Lovie down played it. Moore ripped Jay for shoving a player and Lovie made an example of him.

Would Moore have made a difference in any of the close losses? Might he have been in a better position to get a game changing pick? I don't know. Maybe. Point is you put your best out there. Cut him in the offseason where you can find his equal from some other team or in the draft.

Lovie thought he was the best nickel guy before he blasted Cutler. Shame on him for letting his ego get in the way of giving your team the best chance to win.

I thought it had more to do with what he said about Lovie talking to him, and making that public.

One lead to the other. Probably the combo got him benched. Still, the "cut off your nose to spite your face" approach by Lovie could cost the Bears. Playoffs are gonna be decided by one game. In the end, Lovie could be fired because he couldn't get one more win.

This really troubles me. Lovie is attempting to ruin the livelihood of a Bears player, and hurting the Bears chances of success, out of spite. For all the talk about how Lovie is a players coach, and the team likes playing for him, this is a sad state of affairs.

Lovie Smith should be above something like this. I hope he can live with it on his conscious if Moore falls out of the NFL.

Couldn't agree more. I'm really clueless why Lovie would hurt the defense by benching him. He always found a way to be around the ball. I imagine that could have made a difference in a game or 2.

    I think the blame moved squarely from Lovie (if it was even there) to DJ after the game today. Maybe Lovie knew what he was doing.

I personally thought he played well. Unless I was watching a different game I saw him make 4 or 5 good plays.

You must have been watching a different game because he was getting burned left and right on 3rd down. Him and Conte were awful yesterday.

He certainly wasn't good but on 3rd down it seemed every db was 10 yards off the line and giving up easy completions. There was an obvious screw up when DJ bit ever so slightly on a fake his guy got past him

he gone
Quote:
The Bears informed nickel back D.J. Moore that he is no longer in the team's plans, Moore told the Tribune Monday night.

Such a move was expected with Moore set to become a free agent March 12. He lost his job to Kelvin Hayden last season.

Leery had him on at about 7:45 last night. Good quick get. DJ pretty much said he felt he got benched because he said too much. No mention of what made him bad at football when he did play.

Yeah I don't know if I can agree with you guys saying he played well. Opposing teams targeted him constantly, and he would get burned quite a bit. His "nose for the football" actually seemed to me like more of an Inspector Clouseau kind of thing - he was often out of position, which ironically can actually surprise opposing QB's that don't expect guys to be out of position. But teams caught on and kept throwing to his guy, and were often quite successful. He did seem to blitz well off the edge, but even then, he was often unblocked in those situations anyway. We'll see where he catches on and how he does.
