ESPN Madison had a caller who knows a guy related to a guy who knows a guy who says Chris Petersen is in Madison. I'm not even sure Barry is in Madison, so another FWIW.

Lot of garbage to sift through. Only thing known so far was the Taggert interview.

2 headlines this AM are "Chryst is Alvarez's top choice" and "Doeren is not a candidate"

Chris, you might want to slow down and take a deep breath. If you follow every lead and potential candidate you may die from craziness, I would hate to see that happen to a fellow Bucky fan. :D

Agreed. It's pretty sad to be that into it.

You need a week off from work after the journey you just took.

Hope you either:
1) Get better
2) Have someone else get better
3) Enjoy your new career as a male nurse.

I agree it's fun. So many twists and turns.

Wisconsin should have people knocking the door down to be the coach given where they are now.

Thanks Rick, not #3 unfortunately. Have a new baby girl, hoping to get discharged today.

Agree with your last sentiment, but with BA's track record on Asst coaches salaries, and even the BB hire, I'm preparing for a non-splash hire. Just seems to be more Barry's style.

Question for the class, how many coaches made more than what Bielema made last year at Wisconsin, which was roughly 2.5 million?Just curious as to where that ranks them on the paying of coaches.

Similar topic, just saw this. Not getting a crazy raise:

@NWARobbie: Have new Arkansas coach Bret Bielema's letter of agreement in hand. 6-year deal worth $3.2 million annually.

Apparently from what I read down south, he took a little less money, but was guaranteed his assistants money would be much higher than they were paid at Wisconsin. I guess that was a big problem with him.

Huge problem, apparently. I believe at one point Chryst was the highest paid OC (and this is when the rumors of Barry promising him the HC job came out), but the rest were near the bottom. Could affect this search a lot.

I don't know if I had my head in the sand or not, but I never really knew this was such a big deal.

Assistant coaching salaries are the new arms race, since head coaches are now paid so much. Coaches want to take care of their guys especially since it makes things so much easier to have good assistants who can do the recruiting and let you finish the job.

Paul Chryst's buyout at #Pitt is around $8 million. I have a hard time believing he will be the next head coach of @BadgerFootball

I've personally read 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 million so far. Not sure anyone knows yet. I just can't see BA paying it, no matter what it is. Just not his style.

Thanks for the congrats, guys. Appreciate it.

Rumor today is Chryst's buyout is $6MM and BA is willing to pay it should they work something out.

In more awesome news, Alvarez is coaching the Rose Bowl! So cool.

EDIT

Not sure I believe this:

Jeff Potrykus

Good college football source says new name to watch in #Badgers coaching search is C. Petersen of Boise State.

Opens things up, then. Taggert is still the only confirmed meeting. Mel Tucker is still an intriguing one, but he seems destined for the NFL. I'm sure the Badgers want someone to stick around for awhile.

Barry Alvarez on @dpshow: "I haven't talked to Chris (Petersen), he seems locked in Boise. I may reach out and see if he's interested."

Seems sketchy. He was rumored to be interviewing in Madison today, but that's unconfirmed too. I guess reporters etc are surrounding CR to see if anyone shows up.

@DMBerk: Heard Haden really likes Chris Petersen but feels he'll be at Wisconsin and not available. #badgers

@SIPeteThamel: Al Golden, a favorite of Barry Alvarez, has emerged heavily at Wisconsin. Source says Golden mulling a decision today.

I am fairly certain that Barry "The Great" was a big part of him getting the Miami job to begin with.

He was, definitely. He loves his Donna.

Anyway,

Just got word that Al Golden is flattered by Alvarez's interest but staying at Miami.
