I'm as shaken up by the shootings in Connecticut as anyone, but what does someone refraining from a celebration, or ESPN refraining from using the word "shooter" have to do with anything? What does it do? The poor parents of these slain kids are so incredibly devastated. They don't care what Joakim Noah does. That's a fucking insult. Their world has been turned upside down.

If one of the shithead anchors on SportsCenter stops saying "shooter" or shows us a tweet from Lebron or Kobe saying "My condolences," does it do anything? Does that bring any of these kids back?

Bernstein is a PR guy. A "crisis control" guy. He is well versed in all this nonsense that doesn't matter. When something like this happens, he is thinking "how can how we talk about this get us in trouble?"

Dan will be having on a PR guy from Universal Studios later next week to discuss the pressing need to edit out large swaths of Happy Gilmore. It's too soon and it sets the wrong tone. I don't have kids but I am definitely going to set up a meeting with the neighbors to get together and discuss why the celebrations of Shooter McGavin are wrong and hurtful.
