Hopefully they gave him a no trade. That actually is better than I thought figured it would be 3/35 because the Red Sox just like to watch money burn.

You gotta love paying someone more after their prime than during it.

The proposed Mets and Blue Jays trade looks like a three-for-four trade with RHP R.A. Dickey, C Josh Thole, and a Mets prospect going to the Blue Jays for C Travis D'Arnaud, RHP Noah Syndergaard, C John Buck, and a prospect.

The Blue Jays smell blood in the water as they are about to gut their minor league system in two off season trades. Hard to believe they would give up D'Arnaud and Syndergaard for Dickey. They probably think they can sign him to an extension or the prospect coming back has to be pretty good. If true this would be a real nice trade for the Mets.

That lineup is going to mash.

While Trout is most likely on PEDs of some form, he looked like an incredible player for a good part of last season. Too bad they probably don't have the pitching to win, but he is the type of guy that could carry a team for a long stretch and potentially in the playoffs.

I think we should call him Rad Icky from now on.

That money is nuttier than anyone else this off season. He had one good year. He doesn't even throw 350+ innings the way a proper Knuckleballer should.

Actually, I wonder how he will do in the AL. Correct me if I am wrong, but a lot of hitters in the NL probably were not facing a knuckleballer often, but Wakefield may still be in recent enough memory for coaches to plan a hitting approach against.

Great move for SEA. Esp. if Kendrys returns to All-Star form.

The Red Sox and Pirates have agreed to a deal that will send Joel Hanrahan to Boston, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Jerry Sands and Stolmy Pimentel will go to Pittsburgh in the swap and there will be more players involved in the deal.

Cody Ross signed with the D'Bags for 3yr/$26M.

The Indians have agreed to sign Nick Swisher to a 4yr/$56M deal. Swisher also get a $14M vesting option in year five that could boost the overall value to $70M.

Swisher is better than any outfielder the White Sox have. Good thing Kenny gave him away for nothing after spending Gio to get him.

I'll take Rios over Swisher any day. Swisher benefits from a loaded lineup and a short RF porch.

And that would be a mistake. Rios had a career season last year and it's as good as what Swisher does every single year. Swisher is well worth $15 million a year. What "loaded lineup" has Swisher played in? He's been the best outfielder on his team every season except the one he was with the Sox and 2011 when Granderson- a guy who really benefits from his park- might have been the best player in baseball.

Id say Swisher and Rios are close but Rios has had two awful years. Swisher had one.

I'm not looking at their Reference pages as I type this but I know Rios is right around 100 for his career in OPS+ and Swisher has to be around 120. Swisher gets on base about 36% of the time and slugs about .470.

A lot of Sox fans judge Swisher based on that one season. I have this argument with my buddy who I go to Sox games with all the time. He hates Swisher and he's just wrong about how good the guy is.

Haven't we acknowledged by now that the goof was Guillen? That being the case I don't think his scapegoating of players like Swisher and Vazquez holds much water.

I loved when Swisher played 1st base. A lefthander is so much more graceful around the bag.
