I never called Gavin worthless. I just called him a guy. That's exactly what he is. a 3rd starter on a decent team, a 4th starter on a good-great team, a 1 or a 2 on a bad team. He's a #4 on the Sox. He is a moveable and replaceable piece.

I'd bet a lot of money that there aren't three starting pitchers on the 2013 White Sox who are better than Floyd.

You keep saying "he's just a guy", but if you want to contend, you need another guy and it ain't Hector Santiago or Dylan Axelrod. It's not that hard to understand. The Tigers just paid a guy who is worse than Floyd $80 million. Because they're trying to win now.

I look forward to the Sox trading Floyd so we can keep hearing from JORR on this deal all season long. It is going to be a gift that keeps giving.

I'm sure it will when he goes somewhere like Texas and wins 20 games.

Gavin Floyd will not win 15 games next year, let alone 20, regardless of where he pitches.

Maybe not. What kind of odds will you give me that he wins more games than Sale or Peavy?

So now it goes from winning 20 games with somebody like Texas to winning more than Sale or Peavy. That's because "just guys" don't win 20 games, and when they do its a total flash in the pan like Esteban Loazia in 2001.

A lot of "just guys" have won 20 games. Admittedly, it's tougher to do these days in a world where six innings is considered "quality" and guys make only 32 starts max.

Floyd hasn't has his best season yet. I'm sure of that. You're very eager for him to have it somewhere else, while we get to enjoy some shitty prospect struggling to be close to as good as Floyd like that superstar they got for Santos.

You're sure he's going to have a better season than 2008?

17-8, 3.84 will be tough for him to top I think.

How can you be so sure of that when he hasn't even come close to the numbers he put up in 2008 which was his best season? He hasn't even been close to that again, and its been 4 full years since.

I'm not eager to move him. I keep saying he's just a guy. If he's moved I certainly won't lose any sleep over it like you apparently will. You also don't know what Floyd will be moved for. It might not be prospects. Maybe its another starter. Maybe he's part of a bigger deal to get a marquee name in here.

So quit pretending that I want Floyd to be dumped just for prospects. I've never said anything like that and neither you or I know if Floyd will be moved, or what he will be moved for.

RPB, #3 guys don't grow on trees, you are correct. A guy with a .500 record + or - a game or 2 with an ERA in the low to mid 4's is something that I feel is fairly easily replaceable. That is exactly what "losing pitcher" Gavin Floyd's numbers have been over the last 4 seasons.

Yeah, I think he'll have a better year than that before he's done.

You're right. We have no idea what will happen. But why would you trade him for a guy just like him? Unless it's simply a change of scenery for each guy like Peeps and I discussed. I think if Floyd is moved, it's most likely for prospects. Unlike a lot of people, I don't fetishize prospects. Most never do shit.

Loaiza just lost his wife Francis.

Cut him a little slack.

but he still owns a share of the Mexican pitching record and no one can take that away from him. Well...except for a better Mexican pitcher.

Remember when I said this argument was getting interesting? Put that into the same category as my DJ Moore should play more statement.
