Here's the status we just posted on Facebook, in case you are not friends with me:
For those who haven't heard: The pathology on Eli's mass showed it was a soft tissue sarcoma (aka malignant cancer). We met with a pediatric oncologist today, and have a plan of attack, so to speak. First, we are scheduling a bone and ct scan to see if it has spread. That will happen soon. He will also have a second lump removed, also soon. If the cancer has spread, they will treat with chemo and radiation. If not, and the surgeon and doctor agree it's all been removed, he will be monitored peridodically with scans, but won't need chemo. Praying, praying that is the case. The original mass was in a good location to ensure complete removal, and was not attached to bone or brain. That, plus its size, work in our favor (bigger would have been bad news). So, if you have any positive thoughts and/or prayers to give, please send them out for Eli.

Jeez. No kid should have to suffer thru that.

I mean, adults shouldn't either but its one thing was a 75 year old gets cancer as opposed to a toddler like that. Best wishes, Cory....good luck and godspeed.

What that guy said.

But I'm still laughing at the fact that your friends are already fawning over the scar.

One more board-specific shoutout, but it fits in this thread. I was in the chat yesterday and watched the bears game and as much as the game sucked, it was pleasant getting angry about something as meaningless as a football game for three hours yesterday. It was a much needed distraction and the chat was rather amusing.

You're a good guy Cory, and I am a firm believer that good outcomes come to good people. I will be praying for your son and family.

(Ill-timed football-related "Fuck the Manning Bros." joke: Your's is the only Eli for whom I will pray.)

I am definitely praying for young Eli. In addition, I pray that you and your wife can find strength in this difficult time and continue to be strong for him.

By the way, Eli is a very strong name. It reminds me of Super Bowl victories over Tom Brady. I swear that it shall soon remind me of victory over soft tissue sarcoma.

God Bless you and yours, Psycory!

We have the bone scan & CT scan scheduled for Monday. We would get results for Tuesday. Hopefully it has not spread.

Good news today:
The Bone scan and CT scan showed that the cancer had not spread. We still have a second surgery to schedule to remove the other mass, but everything looks good. After that, he will need scans done every three months for at least the next two years and then it may be 6 months for the next three years. If it stays away for five years, the chances it comes back are practically zero.
We are relieved.
