exactly.

The Bears would be lucky to get a 3rd round pick for Cutler.

The Jets need a QB. They coughed up a 4th rounder for Tebow. Could easily get a 2nd for Cutler from them. Or better.

They most assuredly need a QB, but they'll probably fire their GM and replace him with someone who doesn't throw around draft picks like Bits-O-Honey on Halloween.

I can't believe this is an actual thread. Giving up on Cutler? Don't you guys remember how when he first came to camp,Bernstein and Boers were excited because they could hear his balls whistle?

I think they have to think about trading Cutler. He has not proven to be a big game QB at all and certainly he is no leader. As to Flynn, way to unproven. Smith? Depends on cost to acquire him. Did he sign a 1 year only deal??

I think Smith signed for 3 years, $24 million.

I'd love Cousins but Washington will want a king's ransom.

Yep, 3 years:

ESPN.com news services

Quarterback Alex Smith has agreed to a new three-year deal to stay with the San Francisco 49ers, sources confirmed to ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton.

The Associated Press, citing an unnamed source, reported Wednesday that Smith's contract will pay him $8 million per season with $16.5 million guaranteed. Smith's new deal can pay him up to $33 million if he reaches all of the incentives in the contract.

I think they could land him for a lower draft pick (3rd or a 4th?) given the money involved. But the decision really should be in the hands of the new coach and his perception of Cutler, etc.

The 49ers won't be paying him 8 million to sit behind Kapernick and no one else will trust him for that kind of money. Smith is a product of Harbaugh's work and will return to failing once they part.
