If this is correct, whey does anyone think they are getting into the playoffs????

Scenario # 1, best scenario, but Giants beating Ravens and Eagles seems simple enough...

If they lose Sunday,I can't wait to hear how Lovie turns it into a positive spin for the next game.

Any of them that involve the Seahawks losing 2 games is not happening.

Scenario one is the only one that seems like a decent shot. But I fully expect the Bears to win this week and then lay an egg in the last week.

It's correct. Copied it from a website that broke it down for every team. I was wondering why there are scenarios where the Bears would need a Dallas loss if the Bears got 2 wins since we have the tie breaker over them. I figured it out. 2 wins would give Dallas the East division and then they wouldn't be our wild card competition. We'd lose tie breakers to the Giants and Redskins. That's why the Bears need one loss from Dallas in 2 scenarios.

Scenario 1 is the best chance of happening. Scenerio 4 is the 2nd best chance.

Looks like the "Failmary" Packers loss will come back to bite the Bears in the ass moreso than Packers.

Ain't that a kick in the head. Yeah, that Packers loss could very well cost the Bears the playoffs. Another way to look at is the "Failmary" could cost Lovie his job. So I guess some would like it.

The Vikings, Cowboys and Redskins all play at noon this Sunday. So it will be kind of cool to watch them on Red Zone before the Bears 3:25 kickoff. Giants vs Ravens is at 3:25 as well.

I know it doesn't mean shit in the big picture. This team can't win 4 straight post season games to be champs. Bernstein and his kind will say it doesn't matter if that's the case. Still, if they can get in the playoffs I'd rather they do it than not.

Vikings could lose to the Texans or to the Packers very easily. Ravens could definitely beat the Giants. If the Bears win and both of those teams lose we could know before next week if the Bears will be in with a win.

Ravens lost 3 in a row...at least to quality teams...Yes, I agree they can beat the Giants, but -2 at home does not say much more than a light slight slight underdog....

However, probably the Bears best odds to get in..as I agree Minn loses 1 of the last 2 they play.

The Bears take it in the ass and get their rectum prolapsed by the Cardinals.

Cardinals - 31

Bears - 13

Because as well as the Vikings have played as of late, I do not see them winning against the Texans and Packers in back to back weeks.

2 Viking Losses, then Dall AND Wash have to lose 1 game each.

Wash v Philly....Like Wash
Dall v NO...Like Dall

Both Favored today per linemakers.

Week 17 they play each other so somebody wins that game...probably

Never know what happens, but Odds wise, Bears not sitting pretty.....Thus Ravens -2 is the best line in the Bear favor

I've been hearing these scenarios all week, and they're wrong. The Bears don't need NY to lose a single game. I have no idea why the wrong scenarios are being put out. If NY wins out, they take the division, and then a Redskins loss gets the Bears in.

I just proved it on the ESPN playoff machine. http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

(edit, similar to scenario 4 in the original post, but only one MINN loss is needed)

Why do you want the Bears to win? I just don't get it. They will not go far in the playoffs, and it hurts their draft pick.

I'm still pissed off about the Seattle game. Enough with the Bears. Not good enough.

The Bears have too good of a record already to make tanking it worthwhile. They'd be in the middle of the draft anyway.

I do agree, though, that they won't make it far.

So you want the Bears to win even though you believe they won't make it far in the playoffs, and you are willing to trade draft picks in order to feel good about it? BTW, I did not say I want the Bears to tank a game.

All I'm saying is, draft-wise, it probably doesn't matter. Now if you want them to just end our suffering, yeah, they should just lose. However, if the Bears making it in means the Cowboys don't, I'm all for it, even if it means another week of embarrassing football. :aaargh:

I think draft-wise, it probably does matter, it would be at least 5 picks. I'm not going to throw Emery under the bus as a terrible draft guy just yet. I think a lot of it is somewhat fungible at that point but you are counting on the GM to provide guidance. Here's the last few years for the record.

2006: Drafting 20: Tamba Hali -- Drafting 25: Santonio Holmes
2007: Drafting 20: Aaron Ross(?) -- Drafting 25: Jon Beason
2008: Drafting 20: Aqib Talib -- Drafting 25: Mike Jenkins
2009: Drafting 20: Brandon Pettigrew -- Drafting 25: Vontae Davis
2010: Drafting 20: Kareem Jackson -- Drafting 25: Tim Tebow

Not true. If the Redskins or Cowboys win out, that team gets the division. If the Giants win out, they are only assured a Wild Card spot. Giants need one Cowboys or Redskins loss to win the East. And the Cowboys and Redskins play each other next week so somebody has to win. So the Giants need a Cowboys or Redskins loss today or they officially can't win the NFC East. (Baring a Redskins/Cowboys tie in week 17, of course).

Right, if NYG wins out, and Wash loses a game, the Bears can still get in. What's being reported is that NYG MUST lose a game, or the Bears are out. That's wrong. I think the Wash loss has to be today though, you're right.

I think the Cowboys should have gone for 2 on the last TD in regulation.
