Groce is only winning because of Weber's recruits.

I see Gonzaga won on a last second shot last night. Big game for the Illini against another undefeated team.
Game is on ESPN2 at 9pm Saturday evening.

Going to be a real tough game. Illini have to fly to Spokane. They had a rough go against Hawaii after a long flight earlier. However, the small gym at Gonzaga may help their game. They tore shit up in the small gym at Maui.

What does the size of the gym have to do with anything?

I personally think it has nothing to do with anything. But some people claim that it's easier to shoot in a small gym.

Supposedly the depth perception behind the basket is different.

It's pretty incredible how bad Illinois is at rebounding. It's actually laughable watching these games.

Classic Illini. They play a bit down to competition. I have faith that Groce will get some size and guys
that can run at that size. I still like what they are doing even though I think they should be ranked around
20 in reality.

Groce needs to get this McLaurin moron under control. He was lucky not to get a T when Bowers blew by him and he threw an elbow in his back after the basket. Then, instead of maybe getting a foul when Bowers tackled his ass at the free throw line, he goes nuts and causes a double technical.

Enjoying this one.

Is this the game relying on the 3 bites the Illini?

Looks like it so far, but lot of game left. If they get the 3 to fall in the 2nd half could be a different game.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly how good either of these teams is, but they're both fun to watch.

There's a difference between three-point shots and bad three-point shots.

Yeah there was a bunch of them down the stretch.

And why in the hell did the watch Pressey just dribble down the floor and make a layup? They should have been fouling right there.

Based on this game Illinois is probably even better than I thought. At least now they can get to the foul line as opposed to last year where they would just pass the ball around the outside all the time.

Even with the bad three point shooting and horrible rebounding they were still in this game against a really good opponent.

I'm actually kind of encouraged.

Mizzou did not play a good game. Their best player was what 1-17 from the field?

Paul and Richardson were probably 5 for 30. Did Richardson make a shot?

Illinois should have lost by 25.

Yeah no doubt that would have been a lot of fun to watch.

No worries tho Doc, I am sure that happens in the Big 10 season...

It just seems like every time there's a bad defensive breakdown he is a big part of it. I was really just frustrated watching the end of that game.

It was frustrating to watch but as bad as the Illini shot I am with Doc and his optimism. They
play good defense, take relatively good care of the ball and run up and down the court well.
We all knew this was bound to happen being a jump shooting team. I think they will play the
stronger teams in the Big Ten tough, maybe get an upset at some point against Indiana, OSU
or Michigan. They will also have some more stinkers.

surprised that #Illini is struggling w/ Aubrun. #DePaul beat them in Alabama. Illinois > DePaul & >Auburn... I-L-L???

SHAKE THAT

While I like the run and gun Illini, I am beginning to long for the days of shut down defense. These guys do not try to guard anyone and can't rebound worth shit.

I like Groce, but I hope he teaches some defense at some point in his days at Illinois.

No longing here. This is a vast improvement for this talent base.
