Fucking pussy....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow was so frustrated when the starting job was conferred upon Greg McElroy early last week that he told the coaches he didn't want to be used in any Wildcat packages Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, multiple Jets sources told

Tebow was active, but did not play in the 27-17 loss at MetLife Stadium.

In Tebow's absence, wide receiver Jeremy Kerley -- a former high school quarterback -- ran the plays for the first time all season. The Wildcat has been Tebow's package, and was the reason Jets coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said he was brought to New York.

Tebow has been frustrated all season by his lack of playing time, but it culminated Tuesday upon hearing he would be passed over for a starting opportunity when Ryan decided to bench Mark Sanchez. Tebow was disappointed and upset enough to say he didn't want to be used situationally, sources said. He told the Jets coaches early in the week, giving Kerley time to take the practice reps. Soon reports emerged speculating the backup was looking to play outside of New York next season.

In the postgame news conference, Tebow was asked who told him he wouldn't be playing in the Wildcat and Tebow responded, "It just kind of happens."

Ryan said during his news conference that they wanted to use Kerley because of the element of surprise. Afterward Ryan, through a team spokesman, said it was a "coach's decision" when asked specifically if Tebow had opted out.

The Jets had all three quarterbacks active for the Chargers game for the first time all season. Tebow did not play a single snap either as a punt protector or on offense. He was active, according to a source, in case McElroy was hurt. Jets coaches didn't want to play Sanchez at home, wary of possible fan reaction.

"I also wanted to give Kerley a shot at running some Wildcat things," Ryan said. "We knew they wouldn't expect him to throw the ball, and that was the case."

Tebow was Sanchez's backup all season, and was inactive with two fractured ribs during the Cardinals game on Dec. 2 when Sanchez threw three interceptions and was replaced by McElroy. The second-year quarterback out of Alabama threw a touchdown pass and the Jets won 7-6.

Tebow was frustrated that he'd missed that opportunity as well.

After Ryan announced McElroy would start on Tuesday, Tebow was clearly miffed at his locker during his usual Wednesday news conference. The Jets announced Thursday that Tebow wouldn't be available in his usual Friday spot, and he ducked quickly in and out of the locker room that day.

After the loss to the Chargers, Tebow again appeared more detached, but didn't portray much emotion when answering reporter questions.

"It's been disappointing, obviously (the season) didn't go as we thought, as I had hoped," Tebow said. "But sometimes in life you have that. Sometimes you have setbacks and you have to look at them as an opportunity to step back up and keep working and figure out what to do."

ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen reported that Tebow will likely play for the Jacksonville Jaguars next season. The Jaguars were the only other NFL team in the hunt for Tebow when Denver acquired Peyton Manning last year during the offseason. It's where he is originally from, and where his family lives. When asked if he was looking to play elsewhere, Tebow avoided the question.

"We've just got to find a way to beat the Buffalo Bills next Sunday," Tebow said.

But he was less evasive when asked if he could be a starting quarterback in the NFL. It's something he hasn't done since last season when he led Denver to the playoffs. The Jets haven't advanced his career. In fact, Kerley's 42-yard pass on Sunday topped Tebow's 39 passing yards all season. Despite the fact that the Jets haven't trusted Tebow to pass the ball or run the offense, Tebow is clear that it's a role he wants.

"I believe in my God-given ability to play this game of football and I think I can play it for a long time," Tebow said, "and I look forward to playing it some more."

I have no problem with Tebow deciding that. The Jets lied to him.

I don't care for Tebow but in this situation he is getting jerked around by an asshat head coach. Their season is over and the Sanchez era is over. Why the hell waste 2 games on garbage 3rd stringer like McElroy. You brought the guy in as a backup and he has been the #2 until this situation. At least some people would have watched the game if Tebow were playing. No one will ever give a shit about McElroy in the NFL.

You would think they'd play him to show other teams what he's "got". Unless they think so little of him, that playing him would only hurt his trade value. But if that's the case, why did they sign him in the first place?

Tebow > Sanchez. Ryan didn't want him and sabotaged his career.

I don't blame Tebow for being pissed off at Ryan & the Jets. They lied to him. He was the #2 QB on the depth chart all year, & the fat ass loud mouth with the foot fetish went out of his way to avoid playing Tebow.

This is not true? He was traded to NYJ, whether he liked it or not?

Can I please get your affirmation on this?

Both teams wanted him....he wanted NY....he knew Sanchez sucked n thought he would get a shot when Sanchez was yanked....he should have gone with the sure thing in Jacksonville.

I am no fan of Rex Ryan, but the guy lost 100 lbs., so he isn't fat anymore, and who cares about the foot fetish? Why are either of those an issue? Tebow sucks, and is at best, the third QB on the Jets roster.

Ryan is still fat...& the guy actually made a video with his Wife about her feet, & it was made public. That is both wierd & stupid. Plus, he's a lousy head football coach. Sanchez sucked & Tebow should have replaced him in the middle of the season.

Why didn't you just start by saying that you think he is a lousy coach? None of that other stuff matters. I'm sure that you do some weird and stupid shit in your private life. Do you want your superiors judging your work performance by the stupid shit you say on this message board? Probably not.

It's tough for me to say that he is a lousy coach. He made it to two AFC Championship games with Mark Sanchez as his QB. This year's team has no talent, especially on offense. The Bears have better skill position players. Tebow wouldn't have made anything any better. He can't throw the ball, and the gimmick offense they would run, won't work in the NFL. They would have gone 2-14 with Tebow. He can't play QB in the NFL. This isn't even in doubt anymore. If you don't see this at this point, I suggest that you find something else to do on Sundays, because you just don't understand what you are watching.

If Marion Barber just fell down, instead of running out of bounds last year against Denver, we aren't even having this discussion.

The Jets did not lie to him. The Jets aren't playing him because he's regressed. He's actually become worse at quarterback, mostly because he had the stupid idea that he needed to bulk up more in the offseason to be a better quarterback. Once again, it was reported almost from the first day he was here, both by internal sources, and by the media, that Tim Tebow was horrendous. He was so bad that he never ever ever had a chance of playing quarterback for them because if they were ditching Sanchez, they were starting over. Boomer Esiason said he should have been cut in the preseason. It was the worst kept secret in all of New York. Tim Tebow was worse than he was in Denver, not better.

Let's be honest. Tim Tebow may have won another game for them. Sanchez was bad too and as we learned in Denver, Tebow can defy all football logic and keep his team competitive even while looking completely clueless out there. It still sucks for the future for them. This is actually one of the smartest football decisions they've made. Now, Jacksonville can still make themselves think that they can let Tebow play QB and they'll pay more. The Jets are protecting themselves trying to get the most they can out of the poor trade they made in the offseason.

Let's put it another way. Rex Ryan either knew that Tim Tebow sucked, or hates him so much that he'd rather get fired than play him. You would think that a coach on the hot seat like him would have put Tebow in 5 games in, especially since the owner seems to like Tebow. He didn't. That's the biggest indication that Tebow sucks since Denver, after he "lead" them to the playoffs, immediately signed a player they literally couldn't see throw at full strength.

The best part about this is that Tebow is showing he's no different than any other spoiled player. He's whining when he was given chances. He was given a lot of chances in practices. He was embarrassing. He saw the field. He didn't do much. Now, they want to see what else they have. Hopefully this will get people to see through Tebow using religion to make money and people can stop treating him like he's even the least bit capable at QB. Denver decided he wasn't and it worked out well for them.

I don't disagree with your premise that Tebow sucks, but I do disagree with these statements. He's the best QB on the current Jets roster.

The Jets did lie to him, Brick. They told him he would have a chance to compete for the job. He never did.

Also, Ryan and the Jets were the ones who told Tebow to bulk up. That wasn't his idea.

He did. He was terrible! I don't know how else to say it. There were people calling for him to be cut before his first game. The Jets never promised him he'd get to start for them. He'd get a chance to compete just like I'm sure they told McElroy. Once again, Tebow was considered terrible from the start here.

I'm not so sure about this. It was reported in the media, but I think this happened once the Jets figured out that Tebow wasn't going to be a legit threat to be a starter. It was to make him the wildcat.

Here's another angle:
If Ryan played him and by some miracle ( ) he won the last two games, that looks poorly for Ryan. He would be hearing "Why didn't he play him sooner?" and he would be regarded as a terrible judge of players and get fired (which he possibly will anyway, but this way looks worse).

Tebow upset he never started this year, hopeful for next year
Posted by Michael David Smith on December 24, 2012, 11:49 AM EST
Tim Tebow AP

Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has acknowledged that he was upset when he learned last week that he had been bypassed on the depth chart by Greg McElroy. Now Tebow says his goal now is to become a good quarterback — somewhere — in 2013.

Tebow told ESPN’s Adam Schefter he is “more determined than ever to dedicate my entire off-season to becoming the best quarterback I can be next season.”

Regarding the ESPNNewYork.com report that Tebow told Jets coach Rex Ryan he didn’t want to play in the Wildcat after he was informed that McElroy would start in place of the benched Mark Sanchez, Tebow admitted that he was upset, and he expressed his displeasure to Ryan. Schefter’s report does not specify, however, whether Tebow flat-out refused to play in the Wildcat when he found out on Tuesday that McElroy was starting, or whether Tebow merely said he was unhappy that he wasn’t getting the opportunity to start.

Whatever transpired between Tebow and Ryan, Tebow did tell Schefter that on Friday he told Ryan that he was willing to do whatever it took to help the team win. By that time, the Jets had been planning to use receiver Jeremy Kerley in the Wildcat role, and that’s what they did in Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

The fact that Tebow even had to express to Ryan that he was willing to do anything to help the team win is telling. If a player is conducting himself the right way, it should go without saying that he is willing to do whatever he has to do to help his team win. If the Jets’ coaches needed to be reassured that Tebow was willing to do whatever he had to do to help the team win, that strongly suggests that Tebow isn’t quite the humble, hard-working player that he tries to portray himself as. The job of a football player is to play football the way his coaches tell him to play. It doesn’t matter if Tebow thinks he deserves to start ahead of McElroy. The Jets’ coaches decided that McElroy was the starter for Sunday’s game, and Tebow’s job was to support the team in whatever role the coaches told him to play.

If Tebow ever expressed anything other than a firm commitment to doing whatever the coaches asked him to do, then he’s no better than Santonio Holmes, who was widely ripped last year for being a destructive force in the Jets’ locker room. Holmes was pilloried all offseason for the way he acted at the end of the Jets’ season in 2011. If Tebow is acting the same way at the end of the Jets’ season in 2012, he deserves the same scorn.

As for Tebow’s ambitions of being a starter next year, well, good luck with that. There is exactly one NFL team that might be willing to give Tebow a shot, and that team — Jacksonville — would be willing to give him a shot for business reasons, not for football reasons. Tebow is desired in Jacksonville because he’s viewed as a good guy, not a good football player. And the news of the last 24 hours suggests that he’s actually not that good a guy.
