I wore New Era caps when I was a teenager. I shopped at Lids a lot when I got my first job at 17. I started dressing completely different once I hit 20 and got out into the grownup work force. I gave all my hats away.

Wow. People actually buy hats from this place? I always assumed this was a place like Brookstone, where people walk through to get ideas on things to buy without overpaying.

I bought some of these after the World Series last year, and what really bothered me about them wasn't that the bill was flat (this can be easily corrected as many have pointed out) but that the logo on the front of the hat is slightly offset...wear the hat with the center of the bill facing directly forward and the logo is a touch off to the side of the cap...

That's how it is w/ my Cubs cap, which is over 10yrs. old.

25 is the going rate for a fitted MLB cap...so yeah, not sure how he was overpaying...

...but fitted youth MLB caps, which I believe is what he was buying, are listed at 25 on the MLB shop...so I'm not sure how him paying 25 bucks is overpaying.

Lids is about as expensive as you can get for hats. It's possible to find a way to not overpay, but in general, if you just walked into a Lids every time you wanted a hat you'd pay significantly more over the long run.

Meanings of words change all the time. "Gay" meant happy in the early twentieth century. I am sure you would not use it that way now. Then it meant homosexual and is still used that way, but it is now also used as a pejorative meaning stupid or idiotic.

When someone uses the word "ghetto" to describe a style of dress or an automobile or a dwelling, etc., they obviously aren't attempting to evoke thoughts of Anne Frank or some little Czech girl or Polish boy in Pilsen circa 1910.

It's important for a person to understand all the uses of the term in order to be precise and in order to avoid looking ignorant. Using ghetto in that manner is imprecise especially when there are many great words to describe cheap or low class that don't attach a racial component.

Ghetto does not even mean poor. It's people of a same kind all bunched together. However, the way it is used most commonly today it most certainly has a racial connotation.
