The reasoning may be the same, but there is nothing wrong with the reasoning if it's not an illegal action that is being justified by it. She obviously is partially at fault for the strong personal connection they had formed and it's not illegal for someone to have feelings for someone. Ultimately, her firing had to do with her and his actions, which had to be stopped before something immoral happened.

She should sue for sexual harrassment if he was doing that, but she isn't. That indicates to me the feelings were both ways.

Right, because a court of law is the best place to try a person for frame of mind as well as the ol' "he said, she said" type of case with no witnesses. Shit, they crank out convictions on those like it was a mimeograph machine.

If I had a mind to say it that politely I'd probably be a better person. Regardless, spot-on.

I don't think she has a problem trying to win in court, given that you know, she sued him.

Well, considering they were texting outside of work too, I think I'm fair to jump to that conclusion that there was a personal relationship formed on both sides.

If you were using common sense you would have realized that telling a coworker she caused a bulge in your pants is sexual harrassment.
It's not as cut and dry as that. My guess is that there are text messages he has from her that indicate it was going in both directions. Keep in mind that in the story we all read she was talking with him about her sex life too. These two clearly had a work relationship that was approaching a grey area that married people should not have with others.

What you're saying here is that common sense = knowing she was lying about this whole ordeal and she secretly wanted to sleep with a 53 year old dude. I think you should rethink what you consider common sense.
I don't think she is lying. I think there was a personal connection that was growing too strong for a working relationship and he did what he had to do to stop it. I don't see it as much different as how a married man eventually ends up being less good of friends with some of the females he knew in his single life. I think it's fairly understood for all married men that even if you aren't cheating, there are certain types of relationships you aren't supposed to engage in that blur the line. If this was one, and I was the owner of a company, I'd do what it takes to not destroy my family. Obviously, it should have stopped earlier, but it doesn't mean that it can't be stopped later.

Who's saying the guy's not an idiot? I'm not coming to his defense. You can't make laws or judgments, which will affect thousands if people, just to get revenge against an idiot. I would think that should be obvious.

Sounds like white male privilege thinking. "An attractive woman (for Iowa) texted me outside of work, therefore she must be sexually attracted to me, a 53 year old balding dude."

If it pleases the court, I'd like to introduce into evidence REO Speedwagon's 1984 megahit "I Can't Fight This Feelin' Anymore."

Yeah, pretty much. It's an insane leap to think texting non-sexual texts = wanting to fuck someone. All of BRicks opinions on this story are based on the presumption that this woman wanted to fuck this guy, when nothing indicates that is the case.

To be fair, it seems like the guy didn't really care, but his wife told him to get rid of her. He should have to pay her disability though because she's obviously too attractive to be in a workplace environment.

I would love to see you know it alls not fire a female employee that your wife(who works in the office) demands you let go.

If a married woman was texting a married man outside of work I'd think it was a personal relationship that had transcended the normal work relationship. That's the point. You guys seem to think she was 100% innocent in this. She wasn't. She was talking about her sex life with him. She was texting him outside of work. They had formed a personal relationship that eventually made the owner uncomfortable with a good chance it would negatively impact his life and he made a decision. I don't know if she wanted to sleep with him and I don't really care. It doesn't matter. A personal relationship had formed that made the business relationship unsustainable. Any of us would have chosen to fire this girl to save our marriage. Most of the married guys on here have had to avoid getting too close to a member of the opposite sex or had to distance themselves from someone they were friends with before they got married.

None of my presumptions have anything to do with whether or not she wanted to sleep with him. That doesn't even matter. I'm going on the fact that they clearly had a personal relationship that transcended a workplace relationship. One person had to end it, and he did.

Some of you are acting like this was just a case where a guy decided one day that she was too pretty to work with. They clearly had a personal relationship. I can't imagine what my wife would say if she found out I was texting with another female at work and talking about each others sex lives. I'm sure her husband and his wife felt the same way.
