For the select few that enjoy hockey and for the select fewer that care about junior hockey. Team USA absolutely crushed Team Canada 5-1 and are now in the World Junior Gold Medal game.

Pretty cool that all five goals scored by the USA were by college hockey players.

Team USA will likely play defending champs Sweden who are currently beating Russia 2-0.

Any Blackhawks prospects we should know about?

The Hawks have a couple of their prospects in the tourney:

Teuvo Teräväinen
3g 4a in 5 games. 3rd in team scoring behind the Wild's Markus Granlund who's supposed to be nuts and Joel Armia who was a 1st round pick

Mark McNeill & Philip Danault
Both are playing for Canada but they're behind so much elite talent I think they're playing grinders/shutdown roles. I believe Danault's ceiling was as a 3rd liner anyways and McNeill would ideally grow into a 2C role.

There's a forward on Russia but he hasn't done much either.

I haven't watched much with it being played in Russia but the Hawks Finnish Patrick Kane seems to be have done well for himself.

Sweden beats Russia 3-2 in a shootout. Bummer for the hosting Russians. Team USA takes on the defending champs Swedes Saturday.

Yeah, I heard great things about TVTV when we picked him up this summer. Being behind Granlund is not shabby.

I'll settle for McNeill topping out at a #4 center if it means we can just have another center. We're so thin there.

THAT! WAS! AWESOME!

Its amazing how much the US has improved since the start of the tournament when they seemingly couldn't score a goal. Utter and complete domination in the past 3 games, outscoring Slovakia, Czech and Can'tada by a combined 22-4 or something like that.

Johnny Gaudreau is like a poor man's Kaner, not quite as good but pretty damn amazing in his own right.

Can't wait for tomorrow's championship!

Appreciate the posts/updates Kirk. It is tough for hockey right now, but that's good news.

Team USA and Team Sweden didn't have any Hawks on them.

There were two Hawks on Team Canada but they didn't score in their 5-6 loss to Team Russia. Team Canada doesn't grab a medal.
