Heard it both on ESPN and NFL Network this week. I always thought the phrase "out of town stupid" was dumb, as in this day and age, you can get information just about anywhere in the world. The boys in Bristol and the talking heads at the NFL Network proved me wrong on that one.

Pretty much 95% of Chicagoans wanted him gone/saw it coming. Yes, he was a good head coach. But he was losing this fanbase. He pretty much pissed off the press corp covering the Bears, and in return, the fans. He wasted 4 years of a talented QB in Cutler, with some really stupid choices when it came to OC.

I'd be more surpised if he wasn't rehired.

If you are insulting the coaches and teams, you are insulting the product. All players cut, and Coach/GM firings are shocks to shows that are shills for the league. Why does this surprise you?

Agreed frontman ...have not heard one dude mention Smith hired n fired 4 o.c.s and all suck, or that he was 13-39 against teams. 500 or better.

Actually Brian Billick brought that up on the "Coaches Show" Monday. Only time I heard it, though. At least WSCR was more on topic, versus "Oh My God!" like ESPN 1000 did with their coverage.

Yeah I've heard this on national websites and national media in general. It doesnt make sense. If we had taken a poll here Sunday night the majority would probably have guessed that he would be fired.

It was pretty commonly assumed that if he didn't make the playoffs, he would be fired. He didn't make the playoffs and now it is shocking.

I'm surprised Lovie didn't have a "Good Bye" presser. I think they made Jauron do it and Ditka, too.

He has been very quiet since his firing Monday morning, Jimmy. Not so sure Lovie Smith has any plans to talk to anyone other than the teams he's schedule to interview for other coaching vacancies around the league.

Bears might of requested that he would, but he refused.

I have a feeling the "aw schucks" no-swearing Lovie is more of an act than his actual demeanor. He was showing more of an annoyed "I'd like to smack the Hell out of you, how dare you do your job, Brad Biggs" attitude in these past two seasons.

Bingo. Lovie is far from lovable, jovial & warm. Quite the contrary. It isn't surprising that Lovie didnt do a post firing press conference, given that the Bears brass grew increasingly uncomfortable & disappointed with his douchbag demeanor near the end. They didn't want him near a microphone ever again.

Why do you constantly speak about your opinions in such a factual way? You have no way of knowing if that statement is actually true or not.

Shaun King, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers' QB turned NBC Sports Network analyst, couldn't believe what the Bears did in firing Lovie Smith during a chat last night with The SCORE's Laurence Holmes. King was on Holmes' show to provide a scouting report on Tampa OC Mike Sullivan, but he seemed to think the Bears might regret firing who he felt was "a good coach in Lovie Smith."

FWIW, he also said Mike Sullivan wasn't ready to be a head coach.

Correct. Its a fact. You have know way of knowing for sure if the Bears were upset with Lovie's demeanor at the end of this season.

That's also what New Orleans Times-Picayune Saints' reporter Larry Holder also said on that same Holmes show regarding Saints' OC Pete Carmichael & what Green Bay Press-Gazette Packers' reporter Rob Demovsky told the team of Ben Finfer & Mark Grote last hour regarding Packers' OC Tom Clements.

This isn't an opinion.

Lovie's demeanor was one of the only things I did like about him. Just because it made morons like you so angry.
