This is strictly a guess, but barring any setbacks, I think Derrick Martell Rose returns to the scene against the same team he originally tore the ACL in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs last April and on the Bulls' favorite national cable channel.

TNT-Thursday, February 28th vs. the Sixers at United Center

I got to the game about an hour and a half before game time yesterday and saw Rose on the court practicing. He was LIGHTS OUT. It was like he couldn't miss. He shot the ball well from all over the court and still had the same accuracy when he put the ball on the court. He was out there without a knee brace. He moved around great to me but he did seem a little hesitant when going to his right.

Bulls' Rose says he's 'far away' from returning
The Associated Press – 1 hour 32 minutes ago

DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose says he's ''far away'' from returning from knee surgery.
Sidelined all season, Rose has been practicing and traveling with the team. But in an interview with USA Today posted on Tuesday, he says he has no specific timetable for a return.
Rose says he's not coming back until he's ''110 percent'' and adds, ''Who knows when that will be?'' He says it could be any day, within a few weeks or even next year. Asked how close he is to 110 percent, he responded ''probably in the high 80s. Far away. Far away.''
Rose tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during last year's playoff-opening win over Philadelphia, and the top-seeded Bulls wound up losing to the 76ers.

I honestly think they will do it as a surprise. It will be something announced like 1 hour before tipoff of a game. They're being tight lipped because they don't want anything to be a media circus.

I caught a little of the Friedell interview on your Shhoowww. Tricky Nick sure was throwing out the idea that Rose sits out this year. I thought it was a bunch of crap especially after he started throwing around the idea that Noah, Deng and all of the other running wounded Bulls would take offense since he clearly could play, but wasn't going to since the Bulls can't win anything this year anyhow. Definite stretch IMO

Yeah Jurk mentioned that originally.

But if you heard the Ric Bucher clip, it sure sounds like he's been told Derrick isn't playing this year. But he's been wrong before.

I think if he's not going to play this year he should just let us all know so we can stop watching the games.

they have to keep a lid on it. nobody knows if rose was ever going to be able to beat lebron, and now you really cant tell until hes back in the playoffs. so even when he does come back and looks amazing, we still wont know if hes the answer. just keep your pants on, let the season unfold. let him unrust and start growing again.

i will say this though... something tells me rose is going to be better then we all thought these last couple years. his story is one of 150% grind his whole career. this is the first real rest his young body has got. believe me, he is going to FEEL invincible... and we all know what happens when he plays like that. everyone on the planet wants to see a peaking healthy rose play lebron in the playoffs.

Maybe it's possible Derrick Rose knows he's going to suck and he's wanting as long as he can to stall to keep his share of the Adidas money.

possible. its no doubt his shooting wasnt where it needed to be for him to be great... so if hes not hitting anything in practice then whats the point. he will be a reverse racist steve nash.

Rose says he only wants to come back when he's 110 percent, but realistically you don't get to that until next season or maybe even a year after that.

Earlier in this thread, I predicted that Derrick Rose would return on Thursday, February 28th, an NBA/TNT game vs. the 76ers at United Center. Right now, that prediction doesn't look as good, and hearing what ESPNChicago.com's Nick Friedell told ESPN Radio 1000 AM's "Waddle & Silvy" earlier this hour, I'm starting to wonder myself whose call IT really is decide when Rose does return from a torn ACL.

There's a great deal of speculation that adidas, which has a lot more $$$$ invested in Rose than the Bulls do, ultimately holds the cards in whether Rose returns. I think there's also a school of thought that other point guards such as the Knicks' Iman Shumpert & the Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio have struggled since returning from torn ACLs just like Rose. Also, there are also in-house issues regarding how HC Tom Thibodeau will incorporate Derrick early on, such as a minutes limit when he does return.

Do I think Rose will return this season? Yes, but you know the folks at ABC Sports (ESPN on ABC) would love to see Derrick Martell Rose return for that Sunday afternoon game March 10th vs. Kobe Bryant & the Lakers at Staples Center in Los Angeles. If Rose returns, I think he returns for one of the Bulls' many national TV games left on the schedule.

Friedell's point about Deng and Noah may begin to sit out more if Rose is delaying his return till next season is well taken.

As far as who was to blame for Rose's injury. Clearly Thibodeau gets a lot of the blame because he left him in the game and the amount of minutes he played him in a shortened NBA schedule. But Rose also injured his groin earlier last season because he was trying to show up Jeremy Lin. He was injured in part because he was playing out of control and because he was compensating for the groin injury.
