What the hell.

I had heard of these "Wimpy Kid" books, but I knew nothing about them until my 6 year old came home - from school - with one. He's been reading it on his own. Suddenly, he starts calling everyone dumb morons, puts boogers all over the house, talks about poop, and about wishing people's mothers were dead, and about how funny it is to get in trouble at school. So I take a look at the book, and pretty much, that's all the book is. A bunch of crude jokes and bad behavior, revolving around a mean, vulgar kid that just does one mean, vulgar thing after another. And it's not even funny - it just sucks.

So then I went to Amazon to read reviews of the books, expecting to find legions of parents that agreed with me about how disgusting the books are. But no, it's almost exclusively 5 star reviews. Parents think they are hilarious.

Wow, Americans are dumb. I have no problem climbing on my high horse here and saying that these books suck, and that parents and TEACHERS who think they are quality reading, must have the IQ of a doorknob.
