Correct. This is the post I made that he's so hung up on:

They aren't even playing terrible. Dom Capers is the only one having a terrible game from their side. SF is just better at every position except QB and WR.

They played terrible, FF. No doubt about it.

If I had said that the Bears didn't play poorly after giving up over 500 yards of offense you'd be all over it. And rightly so.

Poorly and terrible aren't exactly interchangeable. And I still don't agree with you so im not sure why you keep harping on it. They lost to a team that was much better. They were outclassed at nearly every position. They didn't have their best game but they played about as well as they have for most of the season, it just wasn't even close to good enough.

Why blame Capers?

You think a different D coordinator could make Woodson younger? or Matthews healthy?

or Kaepernick easy to defend?

Im interested in your thoughts on this, I see a lot of blame going Capers way and I think its misplaced.

There were zero adjustments made throughout the game. They kept comin out in base man coverage and getting burned. When they blitzed they didn't do a contain blitz. Basically, Capers had to know with a good degree of certainty what was going to happen by the second half and he kept calling the same shit anyway. His defense has been between below average and fucking awful for two years now. He has to be held accountable at some point.

You know it's bad when professional coach sniffer Peter King is even calling for him to be fired.

Yes. He has good corners. He has a decent front 7. No excuse for them to be one of the worst defenses in the league. The production is worse than it should be given the talent. He needs to go.

Hell after the first half he could have at least tried to spy him with Matthews or something.

So Kaepernick is the latest double threat QB to go crazy on a natl stage

Can I assume he'll be injured and beaten down into being a barely average QB in about 5 years?

History says yes

If it really was Matthews I would kick him the nuts for their piss poor performance the other night.

And then figured nope, let's keep doing the same shit that got us burned historically in the first half? Should still be fired if that's the case. The only thing that was guaranteed to not work is to keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

There was a number of times where Mathews had no fucking idea where the ball was.

Maybe you're right.

I obviously dont watch the Packers as much as you do. I just think Capers is a good coordinator. I naturally point the finger at talent first.

The best two players on the D have been old and injured for two years, havent they?

We saw the same thing with DeMarcus Ware against the Redskins in Week 17. The pistol is awesome at neutralizing great pass rushers.

FavreFan, I am not sure where you are getting your information from, but anybody that I have heard talk says they used a spy, not all of the time, but definitely some of the time. McCarthy said they made adjustments at half-time, you couldn't notice because of the bad play.

I haven't read about it. I just watched. I'm pretty positive that they either didn't use a spy at all, or don't know how to effectively use a spy. They never had anybody hang around the line of scrimmage on the 3rd down blitzes they kept calling. I never saw anybody playing contain in their lanes. A spy is usually very noticeable on the field, especially during a blitz. I don't believe whoever they used as a spy is just so bad that he would just recklessly blitz anyway. This sounds like the coaching staff trying to cover their ass on an obvious gaffe.

i liked this thread better when speeps was owning it on page 1.

kaepernick has too many stupid tattoos to be a football genius. mark this one down. at some point the whole "being colin kaepernick" thing will catch up with him quite horrorshow.

Yes he is. His backup is better than him. Good for him for finally having a decent game this season. I'll wager anything you want that he will not get 1000 yards next season or 4.0 ypc. That's a great bet for you if you think he's still better than Forte.

the one thing that kaepernick's got going for him is that harbaugh is one hell of a coach. sure, i love to give scorehead shit for his grandiose frontrunning nowadays, but much like many of the more successful coaches in the NFL he'll find something that works AND STICK WITH IT TIL IT STOPS WORKING.

just like in the bears game vernon davis appeared, literally out of nowhere, and was absolutely gashing everyone in the bears LB core into the nickel/defensive-back zone, and by the time the bears figured out how to slow that down there were ~14/+ points on the board thanks in large part to those built-in mismatches with a then-largely-unused player who the previous coach famously "can't win with."

this is going to help colin kaepernick look like more than he truly is, however, i still think in the endis.... at some point, the whole "HE'S COLIN KAEPERNICK FFS" thing is going to catch up with him. this isn't a running qb thing, this is a colin kaepernick thing.

idk, at the rate i'm going this year i'm prolly gonna be proven wrong.... but hey, maybe the falcons have a year in them? if any year is gonna break this way i think this year is the year (if GB made it to that dome it would have been ugly.... again)

Harbaugh certainly seems to be a QB guru

Alex Smiths improvment might be more impressive than the more talented Kaepernick or Luck development
