This is what the Twitterverse is saying. The plot thickens. Bevell at least looks the part.

I googled him & expected to see someone ~275lbs., thick mustache & "pinkish hues".

It's all a guessing game, but I think it's a pretty good final 3. Maybe McCoy priced himself out?

Regardless if McCoy is who the "Real GM" Emery wanted, the McCaskey's will not get in a bidding war. Even though they've allowed probably 20 million to be blown on backup RB's.

I'll take Arians out of those 3.

WHAT ABOUT MIKE MCCOY?!?!?! I WAS TOLD BY EVERYONE IN THE MEDIA THAT HE WAS THE SLAM DUNK BEST COACH EVER END PARAGRAPH

now i've gotta "settle" for another coach who we know nothing about in regards to their ability to head coach? either way i'm going to feel like the bears lost this hire.... if only there was a media outlet to give me a positive spin on this whole search and give me the CONFIDENCE that our general manager was an elite GM who could actively make the franchise better by taking a dump in his backyard.... c'est la vie.

This will be an interesting spin job by B and B. There is no way, unless Jimmy Johnson is right, that Emery had his man already picked out. His 1st request is for McCoy and he's not a finalist? He must have been a shitty interview.

I really want McCoy to get the job, but that doesn't look like it is going to happen. I don't know what to think about Trestman. Has a coach with a law degree ever been a head coach in the NFL? There certainly are a lot of people who love the guy. Everyone who the Score has interviewed who knows Trestman loves him. Is he a lousy choice because he is a head coach in the CFL? Does the fact that he is a CFL head coach mean that he cant be a successful head coach in the NFL? No. Maybe this guy is the diamond in the rough? He does have an impressive history of QB success. What bothers me is that he has bounced from job to job to job, having held
11 different jobs from 1981 to 2006, with most off those jobs lasting only 1 or 2 years. Since then, he has been the Montreal head coach for 5 years with 4 division titles. If nothing else, at least Trestman has been a successful head coach for 5 years.
Whatever the Bears do, I'll have an open mind & give Emery & his choice as head coach a chance to prove themselves.

Even as a former Bear fan, I hope they pick Bevell.

I guess I'm crazy, 'cause Bevell is the last one of these three I'd choose.

Because he has always struck me as a maximum effort guy who understands the mental and physical aspects of the game, now from both coaching and playing perspectives. It seems as if he's willing to buck convention, at least when his talent dictates. (Edit  )I could be wrong, but I'd be more willing to take a chance on the newer blood coach less beholden to the traditional playbook/m.o..

If Payton had left New Orleans, Bevell would've been my first choice. Arians would have been second pending a physical, and I'd have never considered Trestman (I remember the speed with which he lost his first big NFL job).

I was just reading someone who compared Bevell to Payton and said they thought he was going to be a good head coach. The more I hear about him, the more I think he would be my first choice as well.

This is all a ploy by Packer fans everywhere. We get a Wisconsin guy to coach the Bears, we get all of the secrets, never to have to worry about them again. Perfect!!!

I am hoping for Bevell out of the 3 mentioned. Get some new relatively young blood in here. He is
very familiar with the division having worked with Green Bay and Minny. Guy is only 42. I am sure
he had a hand in working with Wilson this year.

Arians looks like the safest pick. Bevell the risky pick, but perhaps most potential. Who knows really? If they're not good, at least be entertaining. None of them look very entertaining.

Bevell would be a good hire I think. Not great or my first choice, but a solid B+.

Arians is OK. I wouldn't complain.

If they hire Marc freaking Trestman I'm done with this organization until Emery is gone.

Do you promise to stop posting about the Bears then?

I can't be comfortable with Trestman until I hear a good explanation of two things: 1)why his NFL career involved so many frequent job changes; and 2)why his coaching services have not been sought in the NFL since 2004.

Trestman and Emery are the same guy. It's going to be him.

How does one follow from the other? I'll just treat them like the Panthers or Texans - franchises for which I don't particularly care how they do one way or another.

Exactly. He couldn't even get a college coaching job.

He may be the next great head coach and I'll fully admit I was wrong but hiring someone like Trestman seems like getting the guy who is 25th on the list of Bleacher Report "32 guys who could be the next Bears head coach" slideshows.

Those are good questions. But I don't have any confidence in getting answers to those if he is hired.

Brick, was Trestman up for college position that he got passed over for?

He pushed to get the Gophers job.

He was in the hunt for Miami in 2010.

So, the question remains, is there a college job that he got passed over for?
