The REAL victim in this hoax is Brent Musberger. He probably got himself all worked up over this girl for nothing.

My only question is...

does this make it more or less likely that the Raiders trade the #3 overall pick?

I believe, yes, it was confirmed by the SSA.

So this has been going on for 3 or 4 years?? Why would you make this shit up years ago? Probably to explain to your teammates why you aren't banging female students both with and without their permission.

True. I guess that coupled with the dead grandma put things over the top. What an absolute douche...

Manti Te'o is to Lance Armstrong what 9/11 was to Gary Condit.

I've been searching around and this is the only actual quote that I've found where someone says he met her. And, based on what the blacklisting thing, I could totally see the Dad just wanting to put himself in the death story somehow.

The Stanford meeting was never listed as a quote.

And, Te'o said after the "death" that it would be weird to never hear her "on the phone" again - which seems like a weird sentiment instead of saying "never seeing her again".

I'm going with Hoax.....and I love Marc Trestman. I'm Dr. Kenneth Noisewater.

He said he'll "see them again" in the video that was posted.

Call me old fashioned, but I'm not much a fan of chicks who "have dreams grounded in reality" I mean, seriously, did her dreams fuck up and earn a time out or something? They're grounded? That doesn't sound very fun when you're a man with the options of a Manti T'eo.

Te'o is shooting up the Ravens draft board by being involved in a suspicious death.

Why couldn't that turd Rolando McClain have done something like this before the Raiders drafted him?

I don't know, but if you divide Manti Te'o's number of twitter followers yesterday by his twitter followers today, you get...

This is so pants shittingly insane I have no idea where to start.

I'm not sure if this is a needless detail from the Deadspin piece or not but I have no idea what to make of it in the context of the piece. Apparently someone named Donna Tei (whose photograph was used by Ronaiah Tuiasosopo to make up a fake sister of Te'o's fake girlfriend) contacted the star of the film Catfish. Why is that detail included what was her connection to the story? Was she contacting the Catfish guy because what was happening to her was similar to what happened in the film and she was freaked out, or was she working with Tuiasosopo and contacted the guy for additional details on how to create a fake online persona? :?: :?: :?:

From the article:

"They started out as just friends," Te'o's father, Brian, told the Tribune in October 2012. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there."

How the hell could he be the victim of a hoax. Did he only meet her once then only ever talk to her on the phone afterwards. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?

The story is very poorly written. It's like it's trying to lead you to a conclusion but never gets there.

It presents a lot of timeline info but does a poor job of tying it together and telling you what is happening. I'm still confused about who started what and when.

Accurately sums up my feelings on this.

Between this, the dead student video guy, and the dead chick who was raped, Notre Dame is coming off as slimy as any school in the country. Ok, except for maybe Penn St.

But he apparently knows the guy who was behind all this. I'm not saying it's not possible he was duped but he's certainly got some splainin' to do.
