Exactly. That is very strong verbiage to describe a woman you've never met in person. Just doesn't make much sense.

How many online relationships have you guys had?

Any woman that I've met online, I met her face-to-face for an actual "real life" date within weeks. I don't even know how it's possible to have a strictly online/telephone relationship, let alone to supposedly fall in love with somebody you've never seen. But that's just me.

Wasn't there stories about him visiting her in Hawaii or something? Or that his parents said they were visiting? He's involved somehow.
What percentage of people that met online, do you think admit to meeting online?
C'mon. This isn't AOL in 1995. I would think at least 95%, maybe more admit to meeting people online. Just look at all of the board gatherings we have had.

There is zero stigma attached to it present day. I met my fiance via Match.com. I know others boarders have met their significant others (past and present) via online.

Teo is either involved a lot more than he is letting on, or (as you suggested with the gay possibility) he is doing this to cover up something else.

Agreed....i've met plenty of people online. But I would never let it grow into a "relationship" that was purely based on online/phone/text, that part of it is ridiculous. i wouldn't give it more than maybe 2-3 weeks of that, if the person wasn't interested in meeting i wouldn't continue pursuing it

Right. That's my point.

You guys are saying I couldnt see it... type things.

But a lot of people DO have those kind of relationships.

I think using the first person what would I do in that situation is not a good way to look at this

This is obviously a unique and weird situation. Whatever the truth is, its not going to make sense.

Honestly, Im not

I like Notre Dame, but not to the level of defending a player. I couldnt care less about Te'o or any other ND football player

I just find the version everyone seems to be suggesting to have all sorts of holes in it.

Im not saying my version is right, so much as the currently accepted version is not.

Continue leaning in this direction. This theory makes a hell of a lot more sense than him "falling in love" or becoming "best friends" with somebody he never met but constantly said that he did...

The gay angle is very believable when you think about it. The guy played football for Notre Dame. I'm pretty sure there were at least one or two young ladies on campus who wouldn't mind hitching herself to a guy seemingly on a fast track to the NFL. Yet he has to resort to online dating? BS.

Even if you went the "he's a devout religious man" route, it still doesn't make much sense. Even Tim Tebow had a girlfriend in college. This is all a very strange story and I think Mr. Te'o is full of shit, was exposed, and is now in damage-control mode.

However, this is STILL not an indictment against all Samoans and South Pacific Islanders, Mr. Ivan.

Is that right?

That's what I believe.

This had to have started during his freshman seasaon though. No way they were scheming for the heisman that far in advance. This whole thing had to have originated some other way but it is possible that they killed her off to help get support for the award. He could have just broken up with her but they got greedy and now his secret will be revealed.

And why does a devout Mormon football star play--or even aspire to play--anywhere but under the world's biggest Mormon spotlight at BYU? Why go to the biggest Catholic spotlight other than to strategically dissociate yourself from the watchful eye of The Community (no, not that one)?

There's no way a LB would have done this to win the Heisman. Maybe a QB would have thought that but a LB with 1 career interception is not thinking "this is my ticket to be the first defensive player to ever win the Heisman".

There's no way he could have foreseen the season he would have to coincide with that.

Also, if he was involved, "killing" her is the stupidest way to get out of it. He could have just said "we broke up" and it would be over and no one would have blinked.

None of his supposed motivations make sense, again, unless he was gay. And, even if gay, "killing" the girl doesn't make sense. The death seems like a manipulation by others to impact him for whatever purpose.

The other day I heard that something like 70% of couples getting married met online. That seemed high to me.

That does seem high but statistics make liars of us all. Maybe they include anyone whose first interaction is on line but that would be the same as saying 70% of married couples over the past 75 years met on the phone.

It's a better story to tell at the wedding than "we met in a bar, nailed each other the first night than got to know what a special person he/she is"
