In all my years of being a fan,I never seen a more private and mysterious type guy. The guy leaves, doesn't say nothing. No thank you to the fans, ownership, etc. His beligerent attitude disappoints me. I kept hearing how the players loved him. Usually when you hear that,it's time to get a new guy. Treastman talked more in a 60 minute presser than Smith did in 9 years here. The guy is a multimillionare because of the Bears,at least show some gratitude. Most guys have and would!

I think you need to look up the definition of beligerent.

The Bears wanted Lovie to get the hell out of town ASAP. They did not want him in front of a microphone ever again. Emery & the Bears organization had a huge problem with Lovies bad attitude with the media & the way that it reflected poorly on the Bears organization. If Lovie was a good guy he would have been hired immediately, but he has the reputation of being a surly jagoff.

often implies being actually at war or engaged in hostilities

I caught him in post game pressers being beligerent. Giving his Simple Simon one sentence answers. What do you call it?

I was a big fan of the guys, but realized it was time to go BUT if he came back,I wouldn't be upset.

My definition for beligerent is hostile or agressive.

He might have upset some people with his answers, but he was anything but aggressive. He was probably the most soft-spoken coach in the NFL.

Which sounds more correct:

Lovie Smith is a beligerent prick.
bzzzz

Don Tiny is a beligerent prick.

I'd say Lovie is more supercilious than he is belligerent.

i give tresseme 6 games before he hides in a dick shell. he is already spouting juronanisms, with a touch of angelo and a hint of wanny. were so fucked guys. cutler will stop listening to this coach the first practice drill when he is told what a football is.

Trestman is the first credible offensive coach that the Bears have had since Cutler joined the team. Actually, Turner was ok, but since then it has been garbage. Jay had no use for Tice or Martz, & I dont blame him. Trestman knows his stuff & has a history of success with QB's. I think we'll see a much improved Jay Cutler & Bears offense next year.

He showed gratitude to the Halases I'm sure. He doesn't owe you or I anything.

And why would he thank the fans? For wanting him fired for the last 6 years? I'm not sure what you're asking for, but it's a stupid premise. Also, why do you care how he treated the media? Were you one of the reporters sticking a microphone in his face? If not, there's no reason to give a shit about how he answers questions. Finally, I'd rather hear Trestman talk than Lovie anyway. It's not like Lovie ever really had anything significant to say other than his same catchrphases and cliches.

I'll file your post under "complaining just to complain" and we'll go from there...

I kinda liked how lovie treated the media, I don't like the media...he was too arrogant though...you can be a smug prick if you win a super bowl or two.

Yea, I don't mind how he treated the media. Who cares? I've yet to see a really good reason for head coaches to treat the media really really well. It had no effect on how he ran the football team. He didn't need them as mouthpieces, he had his own shows on WBBM and Fox to say whatever he wanted.

He didn't care about the fans and they didn't care about him. Must have had multiple personalities becuase his players sure loved him.

The problem with Chicago media is that you hit them and they don't hit back.

Put Lovie in front of a microphone for 15 minutes and he might be able to make a very valid case for why he should not have been fired.

I'd call him guarded bordering on the paranoid rather than beligerant. I would call him dismissive of the media and fans. I would call him a straight out liar in the matter of discussing injuries.

This is a really great assessment of Lovie.

The liar part I can understand though. All coaches are liars. They're not going to tell you how screwed the team is because Joe Schmo is hurt. If he walks up to the podium and says, "The season is over" in week 12, I think there would be some backlash.

How about when he tells you Gabe Carimi will be back in a week and is still hobbling 1.5 years later. At some point it becomes absurd and diminishes your credibilty.

The secretive injury stuff never bothered me, he lost all credibility with his quotes on guys like archuletta, pace,Hester,Davis and his constant drivel on how the wideouts were great and no changes were needed.

Just who is (was) the candid coach who's open and honest about players, injuries, strategy (before or after a game), and performance that was also a media darling, loved by the fans, and has a ring? What coach was the 24/7 straight shooter who is/was one in the same both personal life and professional life? Who is this coach that is more concerned with hiding his arrogance as opposed to hiding his flaws, real or perceived?
