You think this board is just going to ignore a news story that resembles a Seinfeld episode?
I also see it having a correlation to the episode where George carries a picture of "man-hands" in his wallet and claims she was his now dead girlfriend in order to convince beautiful women that he is in their class.

He had the picture of a model from a magazine that he was passing off as his girlfriend and then he showed it to this lady at a club and she said that it was her picture from the magazine.

That was after the man-hand pic was ruined.

One degree of separation from Manti Te'o to man hands.

Do you think Manti Te'o was able to bait a hook with a loaf of marble rye?

Maybe not a marble rye, but certainly a chocolate babka.

I bet Oprah is mad that Manti is stealing from her OWN interview.

It will eventually come out that Lance Armstrong was behind all of this. The man is a diabolical genius.

You know what makes him more sick? He decided to say that the fake girlfriend's death happened on the same day of his Grandmother's actual death. So all this talk about him loving his grandmother was bullshit as well. Cuz he decided to double down on death to make him more sympathetic to America. Which means he didn't give a shit about his grandmother. He was busy coming up with a fake death on the day of grandmother's actual death. Think about that.

And why was he celebrated. Especially when he said he didn't go to the funeral. If he was believed at the time, how come nobody criticized him for not going to the funeral of the love of his life?

He used the timing of his granny's death to coincide with his imaginary girl friends death for a reason. He needed to parallel the deaths to give a reason for not attending his invisible friends funeral or just to visit her family he "loved" so much. Sounds planned to me.

Who wouldve thought he got the idea to use a picture of a stranger to be his girl friend from Napoleon Dynomite?

The gay angle is very believable when you think about it. The guy played football for Notre Dame. I'm pretty sure there were at least one or two young ladies on campus who wouldn't mind hitching herself to a guy seemingly on a fast track to the NFL. Yet he has to resort to online dating? BS.

Even if you went the "he's a devout religious man" route, it still doesn't make much sense. Even Tim Tebow had a girlfriend in college. This is all a very strange story and I think Mr. Te'o is full of shit, was exposed, and is now in damage-control mode.

And why does a devout Mormon football star play--or even aspire to play--anywhere but under the world's biggest Mormon spotlight at BYU? Why go to the biggest Catholic spotlight other than to strategically dissociate yourself from the watchful eye of The Community (no, not that one)?

Another very good point.

Because like Mormonism, the grads of ND are a cult. And there are a large number of Mormons on campus too.

When is Te'o gonna talk. I know he's hoping it will all go away, but it won't. His handlers have to prepare him and have him tell a story. I don't care if it's a lie or the truth. We'll all be able to figure it out. But he's gotta tell some story.

I don't believe this new info of them having a girl talk to ESPN about this cousin being the mastermind behind the hoax. I just think Te'o convinced him to fall on the sword. Yes, the cousin was involved, obviously. But I'm still not convinced that Te'o wasn't in lock-step with him all along.

Unless he's gay, that doesnt make sense.

He wasnt a Heisman candidate when this started. So why do it at all from Te'o's point of view?

Deadspin reported that the guy Tuiassopo did this with other guys. How does that fit in ?

And you know that from all of your online dating, right Jimmy?

And from your time as a NCAA football player?

I continue to be amazed that people keep applying their own feelings to this with so much certainty

The FACT is that many people have online relationships for months and even years before they meet

He legitimately thought he was dating this girl. He found out x amount of time ago. By the time he realized it he was conflicted due to enjoying the fame/accolades that the story brought him and how unbelievably embarrassing it is. Before he even probably realized it the story had gotten so far out of control he felt he had no choice but to ride it out.

What is a relationship though? I post on a Pearl Jam board and have a few people there I would consider friends that I have never met.

If you are going to call somebody the "love of your life" as Te'o did, you need to meet that person face to face.

How in the hell can you be "dating" a girl you have never met? What is this, the bizarro world?

The world has passed me by. When I was in college, I would not have satisfied to sit in front of a computer, if you get my meaning.

Yeah, its pretty weird.

Do you not hear weird stories about people, and specifically young people?

I know a guy who took a cab, for 500$, to go see some chick at a college in Iowa from Western Illinois.

Pretty fucking weird isnt it?

People do weird things. I dont know what happened, but Im reasonably sure its going to be something really fuckin weird that you would never envision yourself doing

So saying, "If it were me___" is ill advised here.

RPB,
Call me odd,but after exchanging some online chat and finding out she enjoys volleyball, sherbert and romantic comedies, what else do you need?
As a man,you need to touch something female!
