JOLIET, IL -- Robbery was the motive in the deaths of two men, strangled by four friends who lured them to a home Thursday, killed them and then partied and played videogames after, local police chief Mike Trafton said.

There is evidence the suspects intended to dismember their victims, Trafton said. He described the 1121 N. Hickory St. crime scene as gruesome, particularly in light of the suspects' total "disregard for human beings."

I wonder who called the police telling them there were two dead bodies in the house?

Police learned about the homicides at about 4 p.m. Thursday, when they received a tip that they would find two dead bodies at the Hickory Street address. When officers arrived, they found the victims and then heard noise indicating there were other people in the house, Cmdr. Brian Benton said.

"I would say they were very much surprised (by the arrival of the police)," he said.

Landerman, Massaro and Miner were arrested there; McKee was arrested at a home in Kankakee, Trafton said.

I'm guessing that Bethany MCKee left the scene because she was bothered a great deal with what had taken place there. She probably talked to someone (friend, relative) that called the police. I will go far as to say that she will turn state's evidence and that she had nothing directly to do with the killings. The one in the bottom right photo will regret taking part in this come summer, when he's missing out on mullet day at U.S. Cellular. There's no doubt he's a Sox fan....

Drove by there this morning, a small vigil has been setup by the curb. About 20-30 candles and trinkets type stuff. No Darryl Kile teddy bears though. Very sad.

One thing is becoming more and more clear, though: it is definitely NOT all about "guns", and sick politicians are taking advantage of these sick people in an attempt to gain more control over the populace.

Like someone said before, Godlessness is taking its toll on society, and I wouldn't be surprised if a cult or other truly evil movement were really afoot.

No, its our culture. When we go "It's no big thing" about small shit, it eventually progresses to a point we go "What the fuck just happened?!?!?!"

No matter what you believe, all human life is precious. Problem is that we've taught an entire generation that life is cheap.

Who's culture are you talking about???....and who is teaching an entire generation that life is cheap?? Don't lump everyone into one group. Not everyone has taught their children that life is cheap and not to be reguarded with great value. Movies and music videos too often seem to be bent on teaching such things and it's a good reason to censor the kind of things kids are exposed to and make sure they don't get negatively impacted by entertainment productions that might leave them with such impressions.

The American culture we all share, CIJ. We start small, with things like "Ah, its a bit of weed, no harm done," or "Hey, my kid might of stole that video game, but politicians rob us blind." We allow shows that originally aired in the evening hours to play 24 hours a day on basic cable. (NCIS, CSI.) We think nothing of kids playing "Call of Duty" all Christmas break. Those shows, violent video games, angry pissed off music and language everywhere you look. We try to shield our kids from it, but its an onslaught. (Not to mention how you can find shit so easy on the internet.) We have entire cable networks dedicated to armed warfare.

We get to a point that we've allowed so much to pass in the name of "freedom of expression" and "I've got a right to...." again and again; then we all sit up shocked when shit like this went down. These kids probably started with small shit, and then progressed to the point of this.

And as a society, we now all sit here, in hushed tones and with hands wringing, asking "How did we get to this?" when someone, anyone, (a parent, a teacher or school councilor, hell even a neighbor) should scared the shit of these kids when they were younger and did that small thing wrong. Not to sound like an old fart, but growing up neighbors weren't afraid to tell you to stop doing something wrong. Nowadays, how many of us ignore it, because we don't want the hassle? How many of us step in when we see someone getting bullied? Or a kid being treated like complete shit by their parent?

We can blame a ton of things, but we can also hold ourselves, as members of a society, in part responsible for how our society is going.

Not exactly. Ryan was responsible for the moratorium. It was abolished on Quinn's watch.

Dark, he did the right thing, for all the wrong reasons. He thought he'd get sympathy come his time in court because he did a "humanitarian" act.

What a bunch of crap.....I never let my kids smoke any weed and if they had, they would have been severely punished. If they stole anything (including a video game) they would be made to return it and apologize to the store owner and then be punished as well. I never let my kids play anything like Call of Duty because of the violent nature of the game.Hell, I wouldn't even allow a game system in the home until the kids were in their teens. They were also taught that armed warfare is for idiots that didn't do well enough in school and therefore didn't have better options in life. That their lives were too valuable to risk fighting wars that governments wage to protect their country's interests (like oil) and not their own.

In the end, you are right to take a portion of the blame if you allow your kids to steal, smoke pot/use drugs, disrespect authority/elders and find entertainment in violent games/movies. You suck as a parent and allowed your child to become someone that is likely to have a bleak future. You may not be able to make kids outside your home good citizens, but you sure as hell can guide your own kids and help them to a better path.

Bullshit.....The citizens of the state should not have to shoulder the burden of housing/feeding scumbag criminals that will never be contributing members of society. If they will have a life sentence, with no possibility for parole .....the criminal should be put down like a rabid dog. Anyone convicted of 3 class X felonies should also be put down. The only problem with capital punishment in years past, was that it wasn't used enough and took too long with all the appeals. The certainty of the punishment was not what it needed to be to have any effect to deter crime.

Its easier for you to shoulder the burden of state sponsored murder than housing and feeding?
Interesting.
For what its worth, its cheaper to incarcerate than to kill and go thru the whole legal process.
