The White Sox have claimed 1B Lars Anderson off waivers. He was once a big-time 1B prospect with the Red Sox, traded to the Indians and finished last season with the Diamondbacks. Needless to say, Anderson's stock has dropped big time since he left Fenway Park.

AAA player. Looking at his minor league stats, hard to believe he was ever that highly regarded. #17 prospect in 2009.

A slight correction on my part. Lars Anderson was traded to Arizona in a December deal from Cleveland. He didn't play 1 game for the D'Backs. That being said, his addition puts the White Sox at 40 on the 40-man roster, but CH, you're right. Lars is likely headed for Triple "A" Charlotte. Is he 2013speak for Dan Johnson, now with the Yankees?

White Sox acquired 3B Conor Gillaspie from the Giants in exchange for RHP Jeff Soptic.

Gillespie was a sandwich pick in 2009 and will serve as a backup third baseman and left handed hitter off the bench. Soptic was a 3rd round pick in 2009 who can throw it through a brick wall with little idea of where it's going.

The Sox waived Lars Anderson.
