mac says it all the time. big business is killing radio. what mac said might had been offensive but it wasn't indecent. and that's is what he should be suspended for. indecent language not offensive. what mac said last week about mark anderson being on tv looking like a gangsta what totally offensive , more offensive than what he said about that lady(allegdely), what he said about anderson was racist. and although it was offensive it wasn't indecent.

It was neither, it was true.

Well, I'll let others handle the people who know the courts handle the legal ramifications of public vs. private figure. I know if I was in charge of running a television show, I would not be shocked if my name ended up in public. We hear the sales staff at ESPN constantly mentioned on the show. You work in the media industry, you have a chance that you will one day have your name said, even if you don't show up on screen. It doesn't really matter as it's not really the argument, but I think it's stupid to hide behind the fact that you aren't a public figure when you work in a whole industry that defines and follows public figures.

Now as for score is doomed, anyone has the right to complain about anything. The problem is that the spineless ESPN crumbled here. A public apology would have been sufficient. It is obvious that Mac shouldn't have done what he did, but this is an overreaction.

My biggest problem with this whole thing is that ESPN is telling it's talent to censor themselves because a well connected person in chicago sports may get upset. If he had called Rachel Ray a bitch, nothing would have happened. If he had called Barry Bonds' ex-wife a bitch, nothing would have happened.

Again, I'm not saying Mac was right with what he did. He probably shouldn't have taken it public, but it sets a precedent where every other person at ESPN is going to have to think twice about any type of criticism of anyone because you may get complaints from the person.

It's good to see that Harry and Jurk are in Mac's Corner and yes if they did get rid of Mac, RIP ESPN RADIO 1000.

Sorry I'm late to the party on the details so if I'm saying something that we already know, please fill me in on it.

I've met Jim Pastor a few times and I think's a pretty good guy and does what most people would do in his position. However, my one issue with him was when thi happened last time the station was on gag order and basically ignored the fact that Mac was ever an employee there or ever existed. We got no time table on their return (though there was a reason for that) and nothing to let the fans knopw what was going on through the media that was openly communicated by Jim. I'm not asknig for a transcript of eveything said and done in the trip to the principal's office, but I think their customers deserve to know what's going on somewhat. If this was an announced three day suspension, then I apologize, but I haven't read how long Mac is gone. ESPN Radio needs to do a better job of treating their listeners on these types of matters.

mac is gone on paid (scheduled) vacation the next 2 weeks. jurko and harry are gone the week of the all star game, with carm and JD doing the afternoon drive (if i remember correctly)

nobody really knows yet if mackey is still going to be gone once his vacation time is over

At the risk of sounding like C2C, I wonder where you work WR. No company is going to give an update about a disciplinary matter. There could be heavy legal liability to do so.

Ask Mac what his deal is, last time I checked he still poste here and we all know he has been reading the board. Cat got his tongue, or his mouse.

I'm not a lawyer, but why would ESPN want anymore bad pub that Danny Mac has brought already from this. If Comcast were to sue, the issue is more of a PR one. Who wants the bad press while stories are posted and a possible trial is going on.

Suspend him (already done) make him apologi( if it's not done it will be) and let's get back to the Tavern.

I love that someone is randomly called a bitch on sports radio, and, not knowing who for sure, everyone assumes that it's Panazzo.

Seacrest, sometimes I think you and even my good friend Coast don't comprehend the media world handles business sometimes.

It is not uncommon for stations to release details about why they won't hear a certain personality and when they will be back. Keep in mind, Dan McNeil is the product that all of us in essence are buying. If the popular product isn't on the shelf for a few weeks usually we are informed of why and when we can expect it back.

And Seacrest, my point of mentioning I met Pastor wasn't to "wow" you by any means. Simply stating that he seems like a nice guy and gets shit on here a lot for doing his job and what a lot of us would mostly likely do in his situation no matter how unpopular it is. It's the not letting the consumer know when we can expect our product back news that i just don't get.

Which begs the question;

"Why hasn't Mac posted an update as to when he will be back?"

Which leads to the answer that not even he is allowed to, or wants to risk commenting about said incident.
I believe that if he could bring himself to make the comment he would post an update for his loyal fans. He put himself in the position, it is encumbent upon him to let us know what's happening, not Jim Pastor.
