There is a fifth player going to the deal for Arizona -- Brandon Drury

One signing I didn't see here is the Red Sox signing Napoli to a 1 year 5million deal after he couldn't pass the physical for the original deal.

Can he play catcher 4 days a week anymore. At 5 million, the Sox should have made a run at him to catch/DH/play 1B

He has the degenerative hip condition that Bo Jackson had. I didn't realize it until I read about Napoli that Favre was diagnosed with the same thing.....in 1992.

Kelly Johnson's on the move. The 2B has signed a one year deal with the Rays.

Often-injured DH Travis Hafner is on the move. ESPNNewYork.com reports Hafner has signed a 1-year deal with the Yankees. The Website also reports the Mets are very interested in Tigers' free agent closer Jose Valverde.

Athletics acquired SS Jed Lowrie and RHP Fernando Rodriguez from the Astros in exchange for 1B Chris Carter, RHP Brad Peacock and C Max Stassi.

Good trade for both teams. Lowrie is a nice addition to the A's lineup and will help at SS and 2B. Peacock and Stassi are solid long term moves for the Astros. Carter will be a stopgap until Johnathan Singelton is ready.

The Astros continue to get nice returns while trading every available veteran on the major league team and stockpiling the farm system. They also have the 1st pick in this years draft for the second year in a row.

#STLCards have "highly likely" lost Chris Carpenter again this season due to a re-injury to his neck/shoulder.

He has very likely thrown his last pitch in the big leagues.

Even though the Red Sox & Astros played Jed Lowrie at SS the last couple of years, when Dustin Pedroia broke a bone in his foot that cut his 2010 season short, Lowrie played a lot of 2B for Boston that season and appeared to do a nice job for them.

The Indians have signed free agent outfielder Michael Bourn to 4yr/$48M contract with a vesting option for 2017.

Huh. This looks like a pretty good deal for the Injuns. I thought Bourn would get longer than 4 years and $12M per. The draft compensation is really limiting these guys options. I guess this moves Stubbs to RF (ick) and Swish to left or 1B.

Much much much better than hearing they signed Giambi and Dice K over the weekend.

The Indian only surrendered their Competitive Balance pick between rounds 2 and 3 (69 overall) due to signing Swisher earlier.

This could be something, just try to sign multiple FA in the same year. Might as well bring in Lohse on a 1 year at this point? I have no idea what pick would be surrendered then. (3rd round?)

They also signed Rich Hill. The Indians themselves should be compensated for that one.

Rich Hill and Corey Patterson won't die. They just keep coming back on minor league contracts with a new team every year.

I'm just glad that apparently enough time has past for Brew fans and management to forget how well the Jeff Suppan signing worked out. :eye:

I liked Lohse, but now I have to hate him. I'm sure he understands that it's business as usual.

The rich get richer. I think Vernon Wells is supposed to earn a lot of $$$$ this season...as a part-time player in Anaheim before news of this rumored deal surfaced with the Yankees.

Why would anyone intentionally want Vernon Wells on their roster? I know the Yankee roster is in shambles with hurty, broken overpaid veterans.. but adding another one just reaks of desperation. All that talk by Cashman about the luxury tax threshold, etc. goes right out the window when you trade for Vernon Fucking Wells. Awful.

The Yankees are in such bad shape physically right now, Derek Jeter is headed for the DL to start the season.
