Ryan, IIRC the reason that Pastor didn't make a formal announcement about Mac and Harry's return after their suspension last year was because the matter was being negotiated for some time. There were "conditions" that Mac said he didn't like and thus, there was no return date until all matters were negotiated. When they finally did reach an agreement on their return, it was announced to the audience that they would return the next day.

This time, it was announced in Teddy G's column (WMVP's apparent method of communicating with the audience in matters like this) that Mac was suspended for three days. I would imagine that if this is the case, the guys will mention during the show that Mac will return on July 23 after his vacation. If there is somehow any uncertainty that Mac is returning two weeks from today, then we can only surmise that his return is still being negotiated.

Actually you still aren't getting it. Obviously the advertisers are the ones with the money. However, this is a two part business. We essentially are buying. We are giving the radio station our time (time is money, right) to listen to their product. Then in turn advertisers pay the radio stations to attempt to communicate to that audience. I was hoping I wouldn't have to spell it out all for you Coach and Beebo but apparently I have to connect all the dots. Hopefully you "get it" now.

And...

If Mac wanted to post an update before he went fishing, all he had to do was type it in here for all of his fans including those who feel that no matter what he does or who he speaks ill of when, that he can do no wrong.

Please remove any and all pictures of Harry

The feeling of shock and horror is the same every time I open a thread with an avatar of him whether I know it's there or not.

if that is directed at me, i've come around on the personal name calling. though, I have a feeling if it was a guy he wouldn't have been suspended.

Maybe one lucrative station to ESPN is so inconsequential to the mothership's bottom line that the negative press caused by one Dan McNeil or anyone else for that fact isn't worth the trouble. If Mac has done his last show at 1000, I believe three things are for certain; 1) 1000 doesn't have the on-air talent to prevent it from disappearing, but then again the brass don't care anyway 2) Mac will go back down the dial and "move the meters" more than ever 3) anything that happens to Mac has happened because Mac wanted it that way.

I think Fats may have the best statement about this situation so far. Overall, ESPN's bottom line isn't all that bothered by this situation.

I'm not for sure why we are all talking about Mac never coming back to 1000 since that's never even been close to mentioned from what I've read.

Dan McNeil may be a favorite to ESPN1000 listeners, but in the world of Bristol he is probably nothing more than an employee, and an employee that gets suspended often. ESPN in Bristol cares about two things: their image and their almighty ESPN brand.

Of course to ESPN1000 management he's much more than that. At least I'd like to think so, as if they fired him, he'd move back to WSCR and do what he's been doing for years - dominate his time slot.

If they've got rules and he broke them, so be it. He's on vacation and probably not even thinking about it.

If ESPN were a movie it would be G rated thanks to its cast of characters like Greenie, Big Sweaty, and Dicky V. ESPN isn't a part of the game anymore, they are the game.

What ESPN doesn't want is a blip running in the Fargo Forum, Fertile Journal, or the Dallas Morning News that reads "ESPN's Dan McNeil was suspended for calling someone a bitch."

Maybe Mac and Co. does another 15 maniversaries at 1000, maybe they don't, time will tell. What I do know is Chicago needs Mac but ESPN doesn't, especially if his lighting rod weight in dollars can't tip the scales against the negative press regarding his comments. Either way, Mac is going to be on the air here and to me, that's all that counts.

Well it's too late then Fats, because they got the trifecta last week:

Two guys from Cold Pizza or whatever the hell it's called now, and Mac as the capper.

This coming after the Harold Reynolds saga, the Michael Irvin hijinx, Seany Cakes Cell Phone camera - not to mention the stuff about Mike Turico that was brushed under the carpet early in his ESPN career.

...and it still doesn't take down the classic "Gary Miller shaving his ass at a party" story, which is probably unbeatable.
