I don't hear enough about his golf game, his morning workouts w/ his sadistic trainer, nor any more riveting interviews w/ John Riggins. PTI just doesn't fill the void. #ReplaceBernstein #Boers&Kornheiser

When did Kornheiser's show end in Chicago?

Way, way too soon. (Maybe 5-6 yrs. ago)

I too miss the Mr. Tony Show.

But I'd guess that DON McNeil won't agree.

It remains my favorite "sports" radio show. He gave sports the respect they deserved, none.

The utter disdain he displayed for athlete interviews was hilarious.

Actually, the show isn't even over. I think he returned "local" or something & you can still find podcasts on ESPN Radio's site.

That's what I thought. The end of Mr. Tony in Chicago is what led me to Boers and Bernstein.

Kornheiser's Washington-based ESPN Radio show ended nationally in March, 2004. The end of Kornheiser's ESPN Radio show initially paved the way for Jay Mariotti and a second daily local sports talk show on ESPN Radio 1000 AM, long before BOTH "Waddle & Silvy" debuted on WMVP & Mariotti got into hot water with his girlfriend at a Los Angeles-area club.

I also remember that Bulls/White Sox Owner/Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf wasn't exactly thrilled with WMVP's hiring of Mariotti, then a Sun-Times columnist at the time, for middays. Reinsdorf's issues with Mariotti were well documented, and it came at the time when Reinsdorf had BOTH of his teams airing their games on ESPN 1000 at the time.

As for Kornheiser now, besides "PTI" weekdays on ESPN, he still has a daily sports talk radio show on WTEM, the ESPN Radio outlet in Washington. That show airs on 980 AM there from 10A-Noon weekdays. You can listen, I do believe on ESPN980.com there. It was on that show when Mr. Tony got into hot water last year for wisecracking about Hannah Storm's outfits on "SportsCenter" and ESPN bosses suspended Tony for 30 days without pay.

SHARK- refresh my memory- did Jay directly replace TK or was it Rosenbloom and Uncle Rico? Man, the years of crap from Kornheiser to W&S are legendary. Bordering on the Flatulent Sports Beast level...

I always loved Tony's disdain for the braindead phone gibberish from callers:

Tony: Now, to Steve in Chicago...
Steve: How's it going?
Tony: click

Rome could've been in that mix somewhere.
