Earlier in this thread, I predicted that Derrick Rose would return on Thursday, February 28th, an NBA/TNT game vs. the 76ers at United Center. Right now, that prediction doesn't look as good, and hearing what ESPNChicago.com's Nick Friedell told ESPN Radio 1000 AM's "Waddle & Silvy" earlier this hour, I'm starting to wonder myself whose call IT really is decide when Rose does return from a torn ACL.

There's a great deal of speculation that adidas, which has a lot more $$$$ invested in Rose than the Bulls do, ultimately holds the cards in whether Rose returns. I think there's also a school of thought that other point guards such as the Knicks' Iman Shumpert & the Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio have struggled since returning from torn ACLs just like Rose. Also, there are also in-house issues regarding how HC Tom Thibodeau will incorporate Derrick early on, such as a minutes limit when he does return.

Do I think Rose will return this season? Yes, but you know the folks at ABC Sports (ESPN on ABC) would love to see Derrick Martell Rose return for that Sunday afternoon game March 10th vs. Kobe Bryant & the Lakers at Staples Center in Los Angeles. If Rose returns, I think he returns for one of the Bulls' many national TV games left on the schedule.

Goddammit SHARK, CJH talked about this ALL DAY yesterday.

TP, it wasn't just Carmen & Jurko. It was a prime topic on other ESPN 1000 AM shows, too.

Let's not get carried away. Just because a source told ESPN's Chris Broussard that Derrick Rose went "really good" and is "good to go" in his first 5 on 5 practice Monday doesn't mean #1 is ready...yet. The Bulls' company line has already been that Rose is "on schedule" and neither Rose nor Coach Thibs has given a specific date for his return. Besides, if Rose does return, guys like the Stan Lee-looking Sam Smith from Bulls.com & The SCORE's David Schuster said recently that Derrick might return in March. We're not there yet either.

Do they have to publicly remove him from the injury list? Sterns head would explode if he came back without any hoopla days before. It would be cool to see him come out of the tunnel before and no one knew about it before hand.

So he could just show up, dress and play? No press release? No player put on waivers announcement before the game? No mention has to be made? Wouldnt there be something in the Leagues bylaws that forces teams to announce the return of a megastar? Would ESPN or TNT want to move some shit around to televise that game? Even if it were against the Bobcats?

I'm just asking.

I'd think there would be some advance notice and one of the networks likely would opt to carry the game.

I've gotta think that ESPN, ABC or TNT will get Derrick's first game whenever that is.

I doubt it. The TV schedule is already set with very few options to make changes. NBA TV might pick it up to show nationally, but that's probably it.

If NBA TV gets it, we won't necessarily be available to see it locally. It would be blacked out in the home team market, even if Neil Funk & Stacey King provide the call.

I don't think that is true. It would be shown on Comcast or WGN and blacked out on NBA TV.
