I agree, but I think they have to try to do something to try and replace Nazr Mohammed. Even giving a look at some bum with a 10-day contract would be fine. Just do something. This recent string of injuries has really cast a light on the lack of inside depth on this team.

Coach Thibs told reporters yesterday that matchups are a reason why Nazr Mohammed hasn't played more than he has since Joakim Noah went down with plantar fasciitis, guys. As far as what moves they can make, good luck. I think I heard something that the Bulls have only $200,000 to work with and are real, real close to the dreaded luxury tax.

You'd think parting with Mohammed, the just as rarely used Vladimir Radmanovic & seeking a trade for Richard "Rip" Hamilton would clear salary cap space right now, but I don't think it's all that simple as it appears.

I brought this up weeks ago. I like it. And it clears cap space for the future.

Wouldn't the Bulls be in trouble if the Raptors' guy opts in on the 3rd year of the deal?

How many bad big men can Charlotte acquire?

Quote:
Nets, Bobcats discuss Ben Gordon

The Nets and Bobcats have had discussions about a trade that would send Charlotte's Ben Gordon to Brooklyn for Kris Humphries, according to league sources.

The talks are ongoing, but sources said no trade is imminent.

A Gordon-for-Humphries trade works financially as both players make $12 million a year.

The Nets' interest in Gordon stems from their need for better ways to space the floor. Ranked 21st in the league in 3-point shooting, Brooklyn regularly has seen opponents clog the lane.

Gordon, averaging 13.1 points per game for Charlotte, is shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc and would open up things inside for the Nets. Brooklyn envisions Gordon as a third guard who would come off the bench and play a role similar to those played by J.R. Smith with the New York Knicks and Jason Terry with the Boston Celtics.

The move also would give the Nets the option of going small with Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Gordon joining Brook Lopez at the end of games.

The Nets view Humphries, averaging 6.0 points and 6.4 rebounds a game, as expendable because he and Reggie Evans are similar-styled players.

Charlotte is looking for frontcourt help and feels it has enough guards, with Kemba Walker, Ramon Sessions and Gerald Henderson, to survive losing its third-leading scorer.

This just in...The Magic's Hedo Turkoglu has been suspended for 20 games for violating the NBA's anti-drug program, says SI's Chris Mannix & ESPN Radio/Bulls Radio Network's Chuck Swirsky respectively via Twitter.

It's very complex, and supposedly there are other teams & players involved. Kris Humphries to Charlotte?

The Bulls would be stupid to trade Boozer for Gordon.

It's a complex deal, Mini. However, consider this. The Bulls are staring at the NBA's luxury tax right smack in the face & would like to get under the tax, especially considering the Reinsdorf stance that his team doesn't want to pay it unless they're close to winning an NBA Championship.

I think part of the rumored deal that's being discussed has to do with the Nets trading forward Kris Humphries to the Bobcats with Charlotte trading Ben Gordon to Brooklyn. I'm not sure how the Bulls fit into the equation, unless it's a three-way deal, complete with salaries involved. For all I know, nothing might happen.

If dumping Boozer's contract and getting under the tax were the only objectives I suppose it could work.

No. He's under a very cap friendly contract for two more seasons after this one.

Jordan just signed a big money deal so maybe they want to dump that salary for the veteran savvy of Garnett, but still seems steep. I know Bledsoe has alot of value so giving up both guys for Garnett at his age seems like alot.

Perhaps the rumors over the years are true and Rondo is just impossible to get along with. (The thinking that the Celtics then look to move Rondo) The move would certainly signify that the Clippers are going for it all this year.

This mornings Trib had rumors of a Rondo for D Howard deal. The Celts would have to throw in a bit more to match salaries. The thing that surprised me the most in the blurb was that Howards stats - while certainly down - are still pretty good. 16 & 11

The Lakers probably figure that Gasol and Rondo is better than Gasol and Howard. If they make this trade I wonder what becomes of Steve Nash.

I would love the stories of Kobe and Rondo trading blows in the lockeroom or on the court for that matter.

Lakers GM refutes trade-talk report

Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak denied a CBSSports.com report that the Lakers and Celtics were in preliminary talks to trade Dwight Howard for Rajon Rondo.

"I haven't talked to Danny Ainge in weeks," Kupchak told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard. "I made the statement a week or two ago that we're not going to trade Dwight Howard and that hasn't changed."

I made the statement a week or two ago that we're not going to trade Dwight Howard and that hasn't changed.
” -- Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak

When asked if a possible Howard-for-Rondo trade was discussed when he spoke to the Celtics weeks ago, Kupchak again said no. He said at no point this season has a Howard-for-Rondo trade been discussed.

Earlier Friday, Howard addressed the possibility of being traded before the celebrity All-Star Game.

Asked if he'd be shocked if the Lakers moved him in the coming days, Howard said: "Well, they told me they weren't going to trade me. So, yeah, I would be surprised."

Howard spent much of his 30-minute session with reporters trying to deflect questions about his future. But, ultimately, he said he wouldn't be pressured by anyone into making a decision about his future before the end of the season.

"The only thing that matters is the present, and right now," Howard said. "There's no need to talk about what's going to happen at the end of the season. No reason to go back and forth about it. I just feel like at the end of the year, I should have my opportunity to make my own decision. I shouldn't be criticized for waiting for the end of the year."
