A draft is feasible. The reason for locking in the drivers to players in the standings was the bonus points that transfer to The Chase. It would be more awkward than Danica talking about dating another driver, if we let players pick their drivers, do they get to keep the bonus points??

I think its a good trade off. I would be fine assuming the bonus points of the driver I picked. If I finished the regular season in first I would be fine picking say JJ who may be in 4th and taking his 4th place points as opposed to biffle and his 1st place points.
