Why would you let most of your on air talent take a bunch of vacation time together in the summer during some prime time sport periods? Doesn't it make sense to allow long vacation time in Feb when sports are all on sabbatical? I don't get the whole mid day show and the driver of the afternoon show being gone at the same time? Poor management, because I know most of the day, not so listenable.

Ok, I'm wrong, it's a good decision to have your JV team play for a while to get all the listeners wondering what else is on the radio.

I wouldn't call July "prime time" for sports (unless you're REALLY into eating contests).

That is certainly a step up from what you have "entertained" yourself with in the past.

Here's a link to Arbitron's scheduled ratings periods:

http://www.arbitron.com/home/surveysched.asp

They seem to have stopped the practice (as of this year) of taking a one-week break between the spring and summer books.

I agree with buryman that having both local shows missing all or parts of the team at the same time is never a good idea, but summer radio ratings are much lower than the rest of the year, because, at any given time, a lot of people are on vay-kay. From a business point of view, it's the best time.
