Anyone use it?

Im thinking about getting the MLB package, IF I can get around blackouts (by watching the visiting team's feed? not sure that will work)

Input?

mlb.tv is great, if you don't want to see the local team. Those are still blacked out. When the Sox or Cubs are playing the Yankees or Mets I have to watch it on television or my cable mobile streaming app.

Im trying to avoid having cable at all though.

I have netflix and if there is a suitable workaround for the blackouts, then Im all good.

It seems you can use a proxy or just change your location to get around it.

I've done MLBTV through my PS3 for two years, and i love it. However, there's no easy way to get through the blackout problem. If you know how to set up a proxy server in England, you'll be in the clear.

there's no other way to work around it, unfortunately. I tried. I had my buddy set up the account in San Francisco, where he was, but it checks your computer each time.

When did you try this?

I guess there are apps now specifically for doing this. Ill have to research it more.

last year. My buddy lived in San Fran and I had him sign up for the package, but as soon as I logged in under his password, it blocked the Cubs games. He on the other hand could not watch Oakland or San Fran. It uses your computer's location to base its blackout restrictions. The only way around is a proxy, which is way too advanced for me.

Thats a generous offer, but if I figure it out, I will certainly share that info for free.

We need a tech-ey guy in here to tell me if this is a good plan. Id hate for it to work for a week and then stop

darkside?

You can buy a proxy online, but I have no idea what the reputability is.

I wouldn't share that stuff too publicly...don't want MLB taking away stuff...

Certainly you are right. It would be private.

It's not hard to set one up. It's a question of speed and reliability of the proxy server. You'd likely need to pay money to get one that lets you stream video.

Hopefully too pricey.

Maybe were another year away from this being feasible

We need someone else to do the trial and error part and just tell me when it works.

do you have to have the proxy on every computer that uses the service? How does that work? Is the proxy dedicated to one computer?

I can get around the mlb.tv blackout watching games on my iPhone, but then I'm watching games on my iPhone.

Still, that's good.

So if you can do it on an iphone, I wonder if it would work similiarly on an Ipad/tablet

Still subject to blackouts but still a good deal.

So glad I paid $120 for this a month and a week ago! Looks like I'll never make that mistake again!
