Very intriguing lineup. I have never attended one of those mega festivals before.

I went to the first one back in 2002. It was hot. Very, very hot.

It was a blast, but we kept running into scheduling issues. Two bands we wanted to see were playing at the same time on different stages. It can be tough to plan the day.

I can imagine. I have seen footage from Lollapalooza and I am not sure I would really enjoy it although I am
sure given the right bands I will give it a shot.

Lots to like about that lineup.

Yeah, that's the only way I would do it. Lolla was a blast when the lineup was decent and those early-bird weekend wristbands were easier to score. Leaving the festival for a bit to cool off/re-energize in someone's condo/hotel room was a nice bonus.

I'm done with Lolla. Been two one traveling show, the lone Chicago date, and one at Grant Park. Keep it..all day festivals are for the young.

You mean you weren't part of the Occupy Lolla gate-crashing incident a few years ago?

The last festival I went to, 10 feet from the bathroom meant either a 45 minute wait, or as many of those around me opted to do instead- the world is your bathroom and 0 minute wait.
20 feet from the fridge meant $9 Bud Light in a dixie cup.

2013 Ravinia Schedule is out.... http://www.ravinia.org/general/pdfs/201 ... lance2.pdf

As usual a wide variety of acts but there are some good ones in there for sure. Hard to beat Ravinia on
a beautiful summer evening.

Vintage Trouble was like an unstoppable bullet train last night at Beat Kitchen.......

....for the first hour. Then they needed to show all of us that they were talented musicians and started to "jam" while playing a bunch of shit nobody in the house paid to see.

This is my deal with "jam" bands - we get it - you know how to play your instruments real good, hence the reason why we all paid the time/money to see you do the songs we paid the time/money we all paid you to see. Save the rest for all of the times you do it for free in your basement.

Do it. Stop it. Thank you.

I'd still see them again despite the 30 minute recess. They were like a garage show mixed with a hootenanny mixed with a jukejoint mixed with a punk show swirled with a revival meeting. This is the new "god-something" of soul, only backed by real crunchy guitars.

Got tix to Japandroids at Metro for June. So far I am really dissappointed in the lineup at pitchfork. Barf.

Next show I'm going to is Rhett Miller and Robbie Fulks at City WInery. Since when does Fulks open up for somebody like Rhett??

Shut up Bagels.  :x

Came across this randomly.

http://bottlerocknapavalley.com/

Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Zac Brown Band, Jane's Addiction, Avett Brothers, Flaming Lips, Primus, Cake, Alabama Shakes, Black Crowes, Violent Femmes, The Wallflowers, Bad Religion and many more (60 total, although that includes numerous comedy acts). That looks like a pretty solid event. I had no idea Violent Femmes are playing together again, but I hope it lasts long enough (it probably won't) for a Chicago-area show.

They actually play Coachella next month which is a pretty big deal and their first time back. They will be playing
a limited schedule though and Summerfest will be a special show since they are from Milwaukee.

I'm thinking Friday, but I'd rather just wait until NIN does their Fall/Winter arena tour instead.

yeah, I'm kinda thinking the same thing. Especially since they'll likely play the Aragon...which I'll go to anyway.
