I've seen this reaction to both the Sony and inevitable Microsoft releases and have developed a pretty sound response to it, so let me see if I can talk you down for a second...

...when this thing launches...soonest case would be November...it will be for probably between 400 and 550...were you going to shell out for that?

If it drops in November/December that will be even better. At that time this current generation will be going on close to 9 years old so it's time for some new hardware.

I only have Xbox360 but I'm not set on Microsoft for my next console.

No, I probably wont spend that much. But that doesnt stop Sony from focusing on PS4 and leaving PS3 users to fend for themselves.

I actually like the PS3 a lot and now that its a whole entertainment system, I might pay up a bit.

Takes a while for systems to have games worth buying the hardware for anyway. Sure, there will be one or two, but not a library's worth or anything. I got way more than $300 worth out of my PS3. Blu-rays on HDTVs sure were a thing back then.

Think mine went a good 6 years before I got a YLOD which was fixed in a day.

PS3 has changed how i look at these systems. 400 is definitely not crazy for something that does as much as it does.

I was reading something on twitter earlier about what devs just happen to be in the neighborhood for this and one of them was Bungie. Perhaps we get a look at Destiny on next gen hardware? Would explain why they've been pretty close to the vest as far as showing it off thus far.

I promise that will be the only Bungie post if they show nothing at this presser.

Oh, and it's all but assured that Battlefield 4 is making an appearance...which makes me wonder...what happened to the Bad Company series? Left that second one off on a bit of a cliffhanger if I remember correctly.

That or I'm going to punch a hole in my tv thinking Jack Tretton is actually in my living room.

I still have my PS2 hooked up to my TV in the basement and I still buy games off of Amazon for cheap, it also has backwards comp. with my PS1 library.

Would be surprised is Sony did a big push for it...Microsoft is the company that seems to have a huge hard on for the cloud...they've been pushing that almost as hard as Sony pushed 3D.

And they've done a horrible job of implementing it, too.

This is my biggest pet peeve with Sony.

They have an event to talk about new hardware and they open up by talking about shit that's been out for a while. They did this at E3 for at least two or three years when they kept talking about the PS2 years after the PS3 came out.
